I bought a spiced rum & cola the other night, I was having a stressed out shopping trip and thought it would mellow me somewhat, it tasted vile but by the time I finished the tin I fancied another one.

Am I right in thinking these are mixed with 21% vodka and not 40%?

The vodka and Schweppes has 7.5% alc vol.

So thats 7.5% of 250ml = 18.75ml.

A shot is ~28ml (1 fl oz). 40% of that is 11.2ml.

So its probably 40% with more than 1 shot?
#9
Smirnoff Vodka is 37.5% not 40% (Red label is at least anyway)

Also, most places a shot is 25ml (Not much of a difference I know, but it makes the calculations balance in this case)

So 7.5% of 250ml is 18.75ml of alcohol.... as you said

25ml * 37.5% = 9.375ml

9.375ml * 2 = 18.75ml

Therefore, these cans have 2 shots of 37.5% Vodka in them. (The Schweppes one at least anyway, no idea what the volume is on the other cans)

Double Vodka for £1.25 each, not bad.......

A 70 CL bottle of Smirnoff and a 2 L bottle of Coke comes to £10.66 at Asda, which gives you 14 doubles with Coke for just over 76p each. :-D

This is OK if you only want one double or you want to try some different drinks without buying a whole bottle though.
#11
Nice thanks for workin that out chaps!

My gf drinks double vodka cranberry and pretty much nothing else, she was amazed when she found these in a London shop at about £4 a pop. Will get a few in at this price!
#12
These will probably only be £1 for a little while. Then when the price is up to £2.50 or whatever, then the 4 for £5 will make more sense.

What?...ALL of them?

Id put money on the fact youve probably never tried all these.

Well the offer is 4 for £5......getting them for £1 each is probably debatable as nowhere does it say they are £1 each.

Depends if you are an alcoholic or not i guess - if you just want to try one or two then its fine - if you intent polishing off a whole bottle of spirits in one night then yeah, this doesnt work out cheap.

What are you on about? So you are saying when the seal on a spirit bottle is broken it bust be drank in under 12 hours? How absurd! That was quite a snide comment, a suggestion that people who buy bottles of spirits are alcoholics, with no basis to your argument.

I don't know who buys these things normally - its only worth it if you want to try a new drink, or if you have are a high earner (or low) who doesn't mind throwing loads of money to throw away. This deal makes it nearly worth buying a few, but not quite.

As the other person said 700ml spirit (or smaller if there is a smaller bottle on offer), and a 2L soft drink works out cheaper, why do you buy these rip off cans regularly? After about 7 cans (or say 10, depends what you're drinking) of standard price ones you have paid as much as you would for what I mentioned earlier, you get 14 doubles from a 70cl bottle.

As for the heat for the deal, HOT DEAL - I am always shocked by the prices of canned pre-mixed spirits, but this makes the price more reasonable but NOT good in comparison to the method of making it yourself.

Ahh i can see it now.....this will be like evolution to the chavs and hoodies of Hull. No more sat on the street corners drinking white lightning and harassing the population, not when you can go up market and sup the night away on JD and coke or vodka N orange. this is the next level. Its break though stuff just like when Burberry became accessible to the masses. go on kids knock yourself out. the tin is worth a penny too if recycled. win win:?

Good shout that man! At 70p each, can't complain! They would be great for picnics or chilling in the park or garden over the summer!

Shame you can only use as many vouchers as you have people with you... I see a lot of trips coming on! And these are £1.63 each in Sainsburys by the way! :-D

Since when did drinking a bottle of vodka equate to being an alcoholic? These are what they are and thats a con. You are paying a huge mark up for something that wont taste anywhere near as good as it will if you made it yourself.

Maybe work on something like an aeroplane where its convenient but its the height of laziness buying something like this. A bit like pre washed salad or pre grated cheese.

The good thing about bottles of spirits is that they have a screw cap on them, so amazingly you don't have to drink the whole bottle in one go once it's open.

So is this a rule on this forum? If you see an item that is posted, and you have tried it, you are not supposed to share whether it was any good, or worth the deal that is quoted?? Seems to defeat the object of having a 'Forum' really, if you're not allowed to express your opinion.

I recently bought a TV after seeing a post on here, and it was good to se people that had bought it already posting the good AND bad points - it helped me decide whether to purchase it, and when I got it home and saw the negative points myself, I wasn't upset because I already knew about them!

Your comments are utterly ridiculous. The argument that buying a 70cl bottle and 2l of Coke and mixing it yourself works out cheaper is, by far, the stupidest thing I've read here in a while. Of course it's almost always cheaper to buy in bulk. Who knew?

What next? Are you going to tell me that I shouldn't buy a pint of milk for 50p, as I can buy a 6 pint carton for £1.20 and that works out at 20p a pint?

Perhaps I should compare the price of these at £1 to the cost of buying a double vodka & coke in a pub at £4.50- why I've just saved you £3.50p on each drink!

Do you have any more money saving tips for me? Perhaps you'll tell me not to waste 20p buying The Sun every day and just wait to find a discarded copy on the train.
