Basically I have been waiting for a free refurb 32gb 3GS Iphone at O2 on a 18 month contract, £35 a month, got impatient and rang them up to settle for a refurbed free 8gb 3G Iphone on a 18 month contract for £28 a month as they might not get stock.

They then offered me a BRAND NEW 32gb 3GS for free if I took out a 24 month contract.
Usually this would cost £180 but they wavered it.

Seems a good deal for a 32gb.

Please no haters, I don't post much on here so be gentle!

Cheers for the colds guys!
Thats why I love this place!

i use to like o2 but they are very overpriced now. example, they want £200 for a HD2 on an 18month contract @ £30/month, i got one for £80 from virgin on £25/month and i get free internet with that.
#3
I've not voted cold because for you it was a really good deal. Trouble is, the O2 website suggests that you still need to pay for the handest on a £35 monthly contract. Looks like you got a deal that isn;t available to the wider market.
#4
Yeah I asked about HTC phones and I couldn't believe the prices they were qouting for the phone on what I thought was an expensive tarrif!

I rang up. I never go via the websites.
Just a heads up for people on O2 really who will be upgrading soon.

Not sure I'd vote cold, but I definitely wouldn't get an iphone contract over 24 months.

A) They aren't that reliable. (I've had 2 replacements during an 18 month contract)
B) Apple brings out a new model every year.

You're paying a minimum £840 over the 2 years. The handset should be free anyway really.

True, but I have had a W810i for donkey years now and my bank covers my mobile phone.

Seems a good deal to me if you can get it. Voted hot. As a non-O2 customer, think I'm out of luck...come on Orange, do a similar deal.
#9
Much appreciated, I rang orange and they couldn't get anywhere near the deal.
#10
Any deal that not everyone can get is hard to say it's hot as they are hit and miss. If anyone can call up and get the deal, its good. If not, it's just luck.
#11
total cost is £840.00 that looks better than 24mths at £35.00

Dial 202 and get put through to retentions

I asked if they had any refurbs in stock which they did, asked for a 32gb 3gs on an 18 month £35 a month and they said it was fine, she checked stock, there were no refurbs, so I got a new one.

Really do haggle, threaten going to tesco/vodafone, you can get it free and on an 18 month contract look at avforums.com at the iPhone section

only applies to those whom contract are due for renewal

POOR - just got HTC Touch HD2 (no arguments about which phone is better please) - 18 month contract, £30, free phone (well free if I paid £30 for an o2 modem with no obligation to have their broadband - can get £30 selling it on).

THE SECRET TO LOW MONTHLY PAYMENTS, FREE PHONE AND SHORTER CONTRACT IS TO ASK FOR THE £30 MODEM - its allows them to waive many of their usual restrictions.

It really does work out cheaper to buy one of eBay then get a o2 simplicity sim card

o2 really have the worst coverage for 3g data speeds. now that iphone is available on other networks, basically everyone should leave them and go to 3, t-mobile or orange.
so you can actually use your iphone to its full potential. it makes sense.
not to be stuck with a network which is behind the times.

O2 have rubbish 3g coverage, dont go near them if you got any sense:viking:

I rang them yesterday went to upgrade dept and they just offered me £35 for 18 months for the 3gs 16GB (600mins and 500 txts) plus £189 for phone. (have 30 day sim20 and also sim20 12 month with 02)

I agree can't often get 3g reception with 02, but I tend to like the free txts (well comes out of your allowance) when using them abroad. Thanks for posting though, worth knowing. Maybe I should try asking for cancellation dept instead to get better deal. :whistling:

Popped into Orange and Vodafone stores today and they both said that iphone tarrifs are set by Apple and I'll find they'll all be more or less the same where ever I get it from, only 3g receptions will be better than others :? But they couldn't match o2's £35 for 18 months etc (as above). VF suggested I get the 2 year £40 which would work out a bit cheaper than O2's 18mth.

The best thing to do is speak to o2 rententions and if they ask why say they left a message on my phone asking to call them back, they are the people who will give you the best deal and if no luck with them then use quidco and buy from mobiles.co.uk who give £60 cashback via quidco thats how I bought mine 8 months ago and offer is still on.
#25
It's only available on upgrades. So the offer will be different for other O2 customers. Recently someone posted 32GB @ 35 free on a 18 month contract.

The more advanced phones become, the more they suck at some things. The W810 was the last phone that really did everything well.
