seems like a bargain good spot

Good spot.

Nice price.

They had the Astra 1.4l at £6999 before christmas, and i was tempted, but straight aftre christmas they put it up to £8699.

I guess If you snooze you lose.

Voted cold (as I do with all of the scrappage deals) as the scrappage price simply uses a voucher code like the numerous very/littlewoods deals. In theory, you could show all new cars available from every manufacturer and list them as you can choose where to use the scrappage discount.

shame as even without scrappage its an excellent deal:?

Over priced to start with, it's a Vauxhall, nuff said.
#7

Yeah someone I know has a VR6 and says he's lucky to get 25mpg out of it!
#10
The Golf VR6 is the best out of the MKIII range of Golf's though. Depends what it's worth and if you want this car etc.
#11
Easy choice - if you want a new car to replace your golf, then YES, scrap it (poor thing).

If however you want a fast car, and dont want much depreciation, then stick with the GOLF.

Personally for me I have always gone for older cars which offer performance, and do not depreciate as fast as a rock falling off a cliff.

25mpg - a bargain !

I only get 19mpg from mine, so on a 65 litre tank, maybe 200 miles.

But, then my fuel bill is about 1k per year - how? because I only do 3-4k miles !

Don't remind me, I was in the same boat with my Sharan VR6 and I've seen me getting 14mpg in heavy traffic

I've got a 1.2 corsa life and had for 3 years now and from day one it has been so uneconomial. Only get about 35 miles to the gallon which is useless for a small car. Also the ride is so hard and uncomfortable. I'm getting new car soon and it certainly won't be another Corsa or Vauxhall for that matter.
#17
Wow...Awesome deal. Heat

don't expect economy out of the corsa, they're thirsty little blighters.

Really? I used to sell em and my wife has a 1.4 3 door Sxi and returns very good mpg, no complaints from customers either. The only one that is thirsty is the Corsa VXR, quick little thing though.

Post away! I'm about to go down and check out the Kia Picanto. Just realised I can buy that car on my credit card. If you can get a 0% new CC deal for the next 12-15 months then why not spread payments out.

only some cars get the scrappage
#23
Prefer to go for a newish car that's about a year or two old, for half the price.
#24
I have the 1.3 sxi CDTI and it does 50-60miles to a fiver town driving, good deal voted hot
#25
If the loyalty discount is the same as other manufacturers, then you have to trade in a Vauxhall to be able to get that other £500 off.

and to the person thinking of scrapping his golf vr6....do NOT do it otherwise I will find you and slap you silly.
#26
Bargain price, voted hot.
#27
looks like i am keeping my vr6 again what will the corsa be worth in 3 years my vr6 is worth about 2,000 now and in 3 years will be the same and mpg on the corsa it says 46mpg on parkers guide my vr6 on runs i get 30mpg but around town 26mpg

God that's a relief... Was starting to think I was the only one
#29
Its a good deal for those who would pay full price at a dealership otherwise personally i would never pay that much for a vauxhall..unless VXR range ....i would prefer to spend that amount or less on a good condition second hand car worth twice as much when new

i'd rather have the golf myself, reliable and quick. the new corsas are fugly although its a decent price

i'd personally stick with a VAG car myself

i thought the idea of these forums were if it was a good deal or not?
not for people to have a moan about how they never buy new cars and still run their dad's austin minor bla ba bla, you would buy a brand new car if you could afford the spec you wanted so stop complaining.....

Its half price so if you have a banger seems like a good deal to me.
#34
How do you save £5,936?
#35
Well the list price is over £12k so you do the math.
#36
How many people actually have cars to scrap? I think the deals OK but not so if you have no banger to get 2k for.

I sold my banger in summer for £350 after 10 weeks of ownership. When does the scrappage thing end? I'm thinking I should of maybe held onto it.

Is there a rule stopping him then? Just ignore them if you want, don't moan about it. It's got heat so obviously of interest to some.

I think it's supposed to end march, and you have to have had the car for about a year? so don't think you would have been able to use it

You're right - unless it's for cars, bicycles, computers, cameras, etc., etc.........................................

Basically all goes to pot if it's for boys toys!
