Looked on the website & the photopaper looks good too. Anyone know about the quality?
#2
If each cartridge is 500pages this will be expensive to use. However if each cartridge is 2000pages, this could be a very good price.
#3
Ebuyer want more than this for the printer alone. Strangely it lists the ethernet adapter as seperate, but its still the cn model?

£98.99 at CDiscount http://www.cdiscount.co.uk/Computing/PrintersScanners/LaserPrinters/f/412/177847.html?refer=TDR&cm_mmc=Tradedoubler-_-Cdiscount%20program-_-HotUKDeals%201018132-_-n/a&tduid=e196ba1481bf17de6894f55b58696d9a&refer=AFW&cm_mmc=AFW-_-78888-_-n%2fa-_-n%2fa&awc=2487_1256679854_f9aaceffb4d72df0f992f573d3f933aa They have original Dell toners listed at £29.99 each.

I know the Toners being supplied by IJT are their own but this is looking hot to me! Anyone got any experience of IJT? Their Toners?

i am cluless with printers so looking for a heads up from some experts. but the deal looks ace to me.

this thread deal adds an option to the previous HUKD last month @ £96.90 for the non-network model delivered.
#7
Just ordered. Nice one

Since you are buying the toner not the printer which is free, does this mean that if anything goes wrong with the printer then you have no consumer rights?
#9
Consumer rights from a Jersey company?

Their last similar offer made a big deal of a full Dell warranty, not sure if this still applies.

I stand corrected.....see below.
#10
I'd not spotted that it was a Jersey company, nor can I see any mention of a Dell warranty, I suppose that answers my question then.
#11
Ordered - thanks!
#12
The Warranty is mentioned on the home page !

There was a new Law introduced September 09 giving consumers rights similar to those in the UK.

You won't get the Dell toners as well.
They strip them out of the box ( probably to resell and subsidise this deal).

We bought one for work when they were £99 with one set of IJT toners. This is a better deal.

I see they are now stating 2000 pages per set of toners ( it was unclear before whether they were standard 1000 page or max-fill 2000 page toners). Its still nearly 3p per page though . So don't use it for mono printing.
#15
This is a good deal & a good quality printer. Having read reviews previously, it is highly recommended with excellent print quality. The only downfall is that it is quite large in size & heavy in weight. Make sure you have the room but good deal.
#16
No update from them today, will have to see if it turns up tomorrow !
#17
Received this morning.
#18
Received mine today too!

Sticking the service tag in the dell site shows the warranty as expiring 30-07-2012

Brilliant :-)

The printer does not come with any toner installed though, so just the two you are buying to get the printer for free.
#19
Ordered this last time they offered it for that price, great printer!
#20
How heavy is it please?

That law just seems to copy SOGA for Jersey residents, not extend UK law to cover Jersey. Unless I've missed something (not unlikely) you'll apparently still not be covered by UK law if buying things from Jersey-based businesses.
Caveat Emptor still applies for buying from such places.

I've had pone of these printers for around 2 years and have had no problems witt it at all ... still on first toners (so probably don't use it much lol) but printed around 30 A4 colour photos so far. If anyone can recommend good photo paper for laser printers, inkjet photo paper is no good although I get decent results from good quality paper
#25
Can I make this wirless network connected? If so where from and how much?
#26
So how much are the toners for this printer?
#27
Buy them from IJT with a discount code and the toners are reasonably priced.

Buy original dell cartridges and they cost a packet!

Great printer, bought it when it was on HUD last time....

Got next day delivery and printing with IJT inks, so far.... very good

£112 for 2 toners and you get the printer free. So I would say £56 for 1 toner. But if they print 100s of sheets, if your a home user they should last for ages. This would have been a good deal for me but I replaced my printer with an inkjet network one 2 months ago. £56 does sound expensive for a toner, but that's not much more than a set of genuine inkjet cartridges.

One of these will make the printer Wireless.

Hi,
Thinking of ordering one of these after getting miffed at the injet we have running dry again........ just when my daughter wants to print out a school report.

How reliable are the toner cartridges in terms of not drying/clogging up as inkjets do if left for a period of time without being used?
We seem to go from a famine to a feast in terms of our printer usage and it always requires lots of my time getting the thing clear before it prints reliably again after being left for a week or two unused.

Also for general photos i.e. 7"x5" etc is the print quality good enough on this type of laser?
I have heard that lasers can't cope with heavy photo papers.

cheers,

They dont work well with any photo paper as they tend to have a reflective surface and the toner does not fuse easily to it. but high quality paper and a laminator give good results ... or I just stick with the high quality paper... once behind the glass of a photo frame it looks good

If a toner cartridge is printing uneven you simply take it out, put it in a plastic bag (to prevent toner leaking all over the place) and give it a good shake. If that doesn't help the toner cartridge is either empty or the fuser unit is at the end of it's life span (up to 30,000 pages I believe).

I have used toner cartridges before that were several years old, no problem ever. Toner is basically plastic powder, so it's already dry.

Colour laser printers are not photo printers, they are designed for general purpose printing (text, charts and diagrams). They are very bad at printing gradients, but unbeatable at printing razor sharp text.

Any £60 inkjet printer will give you better photo prints than a colour laser. You buy a laser printer for speed and because the running costs will usually be lower than that of an inkjet.

Tested it with some photos already, quality is excellent for a Laser Printer. I wasn't expecting much but it's great even on normal cheap paper.

Don't use glossy paper though, it dosen't work. You'll get 'Ink' left on the roller which takes 1/2 prints to clean.

Very impressed !

There is glossy paper for laser printers, but it's nothing like glossy paper for Inkjet.

Printing on a laser is a little like laminating the paper with a matt finish. The glossy surface of the paper ends up hidden under the molten toner.

This is a good deal, but slightly mis-worded in my book. Their ad says buy 2 sets of toner for £112 and get the printer free (+p&p), but the same sets only cost £40.95 each - I know just bought a set plus an extra black for £13.95 (+£1.99 p&p which is a bargain itelf)..

Had my 1320cn for 6 months for general (non-photo) printing - done ~ 300 sheets and supplied toners are still showing ~ 100% except for black - ~ 30% now. Refills should be around 2-4x this capacity.

Can't recommend this printer as a bargain as I still haven't done enough printing yet, but its good for me so far - enough for me to buy more toners (and pay £70 + p&p in the first place), so you'll be getting a better deal than me.

Also when entering account details, use https://www.www.ijtdirect.co.uk as otherwise your information seems to be passed over the internet in clear text...

i thought you had to buy laser printer toner in seperate colour (cant remember exactly - but something lke black, cayan?, etc). Four in total if I remember? So are these packs of the four toner colours?

If I have a wireless router already - is the printer Wifi enabled?

This is a HUGE printer btw. I have one at work

Its the network model, not the wireless model. That is to say that it has a network port connector and a usb connector.

Excellent printer....was a tad bigger than I thought it would be but it only took a few minutes to set up and there is a video guide on CDrom to show you exactly what to do in order to get it set up correctly. You cant go wrong with it.

The only problem I had was that it created a second virtual USB port which caused my card reader and external usb drive to disappear altogether so I am trying to find a way of connecting the printer via USB and still have my internal card reader and external usb drive working.

Any solutions would be appreciated! :)
#39
Gave up using the USB route. Connected it using the network cable and it works a treat. No probs whatsoever. Nice one. Print quality is excellent too. Happy Days. :-D

Are IJT toners the same quality and up to the same build quality as the Dell ones?? Anyone know/had experience??

Toner powder is bad for you (I hear) so hope it works just as well and not leak etc
