Yeah, I don't understand it either - buy rechargable high capacity AAs, if they run out when you're out and about, buy AAs off the shelf instead of being stuffed because you don't have a spare camera-specific one (or if you do, you've probably paid more for it than you would for 4 sets of AA rechargables).

Even at the same price this one is better - argos.co.uk/sta…JUN

I did a lot of reading up before buying that one last week and I'm delighted with the Canon.

People really need to get into 2011. Decent 2700 aa batteries can take over 600 photos on this camera. I know because I actually have experience from 2 people I know who actually have one instead of just hearsay.

High Capacity (2900) Rechargeable AAs are inexpensive from 7dayshop - they work fine in my Canon (as above, bought from Argos, and I'm delighted with it).

Thanks, been hoping to get one of these but didn't seem to be able to find it for less than £120

Nice price. But, according to CNET review...

The good: The Fujifilm FinePix S2950 has a wide-angle 18x zoom lens, takes AA-size batteries for power, and has a 3-inch LCD, an electronic viewfinder, and manual and semimanual shooting modes.

The bad: The S2950's performance and photo quality indoors and in low-light conditions are merely passable for its price.

The bottom line: A low-cost way to get an 18x wide-angle lens, the Fujifilm FinePix S2950 delivers merely OK photos and shooting performance.

I bought one of these for work and I was shocked when I compared the image to that taken on my S1500. The PQ was better on the s1500; the 2950 seemed less sharp

The reviews seem to point towards a huge shutter lag (0.72s)

I'm debating between this an the refurb F550EXR. I really would like the geotagging features and have heard that most of the internals (except the lens obviously) are the same as the HS20EXR

Anyone can compare this an the F550EXR?

Good price for a mediocre bridge camera. Around £125 most places.

I picked on up when Tesco had them for £50, to be honest I wouldn't have paid much more than that. 18x Zoom is nice and with 14mp you can't go wrong but it does suffer from shutter lag and seems painfully slow sometimes between image capture.

Not the best camera in the world, I think you could find better for the same price as said by others.

You say "Even at the same price" isn't that the basis of a fair comparison. I wish that people making comparisons would remember this and not compare items that are a lot more expensive.

Remember next week is Amazon's Black Friday Week. I didn't bother with it last year so I don't know if cameras were included in the flash sales.

Yes cameras were in Black Friday, there was a Sony Cybershot and I managed to bag one.

They may have also done some Fuji bridge cameras, I forget now.

As for the Canon, only slightly less MP, quite a bit less zoom (but still good at 12x); same size screen, No viewfinder (boo). Again the use of AA batteries, but at least its only 308g (the Fuji is 437g), on the downside, its as ugly as sin, who designed that beast!

Bought one for £125 a while back. Fine for outdoor stuff and well lit indoors but useless if the light isn't good. Flash is pointless (well they are on any camera really unless you spend mega bucks.)

Macro stuff is very good. Taking action photo's is very hit and miss as the delay is very noticeable.

Been running on Duracell bats and rechargables. Proper bats last much longer and last ages. rechareables go flat pretty quick in comparrison and i'm sure the camera runs a bit slower 9but that could be a mistake).

If you are hoping to use this in low light situations I thought I would let you know that I didn't find this camera very good. I bought this from Jessops a few weeks ago for £120 and I was very disappointed with the low light shots and the battery life. It requires 4 AA batteries and they dont last very long. I thought it was a problem with the camera so I took it back but the guy in Jessops tells me that AA batteries don't last very long at all.

The zoom is impressive and it's comfortable to hold but in the end I opted for a camera that has a rechargeable battery and takes better low light shots.

Oddly enough it's probably not such a bad feature as it is in compact cameras where they're bulky and heavy (as well as having a short charge life). Cheaper for the manufacturer of course (no charger or battery). Still Li-ion evey time for me (but you do need a cheap aftermarket spare).

I got this a few months back. Perfectly happy with it. It's an entry level camera, I expected it to have picture quality as such.

It comes with a set of batteries which are still going strong.

Cracking for a £100 camera, my mum has the next model down. Sure, its like a Ford Focus, decent at everything but doesn't excel in any area. Yes, you can buy a camera with better image quality, or better in low lighting, or better zoom etc, but it will not be as good in other areas. If you want a jack of all trades, then this is probably it.

anyone know if there is a digital camera which has a light that stays on for when my partner is night fishing so he can see what he is taking a picture of. i know on my nephews phone his light stays on while taking photos so i was hoping that there was a camera that does the same.

Really not a bad camera - this model is about a year old now, and okay there have been leaps and bounds, but this is a really good quality bridge camera for less than £100!

It has an excellent panoramic mode, and plenty of settings that encourage you to look a bit deeper into SLR cameras.

The batteries mine came with are still going strong, as another poster has said, and in an emergency, 4 AA's are easily to find than a device specific rechargable battery (which probably wouldn't be fully charged anyway).

As people have said, in low light indoors, the image is a bit grainy, but tbh find me a camera that isn't at this price.

I paid about £165 I think, on launch and have been perfectly happy with it - it has certainly taken a few knocks from my small children and has come on holiday with us 4 times and is still in perfect condition.
