Too Good to be true. Nice find. Congratz to every1 who can get these boxes at this price

Just rang 3 stores local to where I live. They have all confirmed that stock is pre-owned. The fat PS2 is £20 whilst the slim PS2 is £24.99 (both without any games). Shame the deal isn't nationwide!

EDIT: OP, is there any chance you could pick one up and post it to me? I would happily pay your petrol and postage costs etc? Thanks
#4
Not in the 2 stores nearest to me
#5
Oooh boiling hot, you used to pay more than that for the game! The PS2 is still a good console and plenty of cheap games still available for it, and Buzz is brilliant too! I bought my PS2 just to get Buzz!

You can play DVDs on it too, though it's a bit awkward without the remote which is sold seperately, but I'm sure you could pick one of those up cheap too.

Heat n rep.

I have a PS3, yet I want one of these as it seems such a good deal!!!
#9
I really want to get one as my 60gb ps3 died and I got a slim.

I still haven't played Ico or Shadown of the Colossus.
#10
Good for the 90% of owners who own a PS3 model that can't play PS2 games.
#11

#13

There's a pretty strong rumour going round that those 2 games are going to get the same HD treatment that the first 2 God of War games got, so they can get people hyped up for The Last Guardian.

Would definitely recommend getting the fat, it's cheaper and you can easily connect a hard drive to it (with the network adaptor) and play your games from that.

That comment made me lol

I just got a ps2 and am having more fun than the 360 with it. Ratchet and Clank 2 and 3, I Love Katamari, Gitaroo Man are just so much fun. I've got Ico and Shadow OTC but am saving them until after Mario Galaxy 2.
#18
none in the mansfield area..good deal if found.
#19
No Stock in Hull stores they dident know about the offer. shame :(
#20
would love to play res evil 3 code veronica x , again ... the ultimate of the zombie games
#21
Got one the other month from Gamestation. Working my way through Rugby 08, Vice City, and Monster Hunter. Bargain!
#22
Just rang up the Leicester store and they have no knowledge of this deal. Spoke to the manager who confirmed that the deal would have been nationwide. They had pre-owned consoles at £24.99 but that was it. Has anybody minus the OP actually managed to pick one up elsewhere? Looks suspicious as it stands
#23
I am shocked that the Upper Norwood Branch has already sold out.
Will post a pic and receipt later for doubter...
Obviously, I can't clarified the Nationwide Statement as I just listen to what the staff said.

I never understand why people say this, why play ps2 games when you can play ps3 ?

It surely isnt cost, because you can pick up fantastic games for next to nout, Ive picked up tomb raider and fallout 3 for £5 and uncharted and Metal gear for less than £10, ratchett and clanck for £7 , Motorstorm Pacific rift £5 (cex error fair enough).

Just cant see why PS3 owners would hark back.

IMHO. No offence meant
#28
Newer doesn't mean more fun. I seriously have had more fun with the PS2 i bought recently that in the last 14 months on the xbox and I played 47 full retail games in that time. Crackdown was the most fun and loads of people think it's barely next gen.

Tomb Raider 2 is the best of the series, Legend is far more charming and fun than that messed up Underworld - this is why. Ratchet and Clank 3 is still said to be the best of the series. This is why.

1. Where to get a fat - ebay?
2. Cheaper - not delivered! from ebay
3. you have to buy a HDD,
4. Buy network adaptor
5. buy HD advance/ or spend ages figuring out HD loader, mem card hack etc
6. rip your games to the HDD

All in all longer, more expensive just to load games off HDD, not easy!

Just to be pedantic, I played Legend on the 360:p! Personally rather enjoyed Underworld but thought Legend was good in it's own right, if a little short.

Anyway, anyone managed to get this deal? Last time I went to one that actually had a new ps2 in stock, it was marked up at £99.99, and those pics looks like it'll scan at that anyway (and only be overrided by the staff if the price tag says otherwise...)

I hope that's true, I completed Ico but not SOTC, I'd gladly pay for them again as they're stunning games. SOTC would look phenomenal in HD and the gameplay is timeless. Hopefully they'll be at the same budget pricepoint as God of War 1/2 and both on the same disc.

Agreed - network adapters were rarer than rocking horse cack when I bought mine 4 years ago, where are you going to get one now?! I've got a HDD set-up on my PS2 and it's great but not the be all and end all - you can't play some classic games like Shadow Of The Colossus or Scarface. Gets quite hot too.
#35
Good deal if you can get it! Anyone else got one?

Looks like a promotional one off deal in just the one store!

Ended up getting a fat PS2 for £19.99 in my local blockbuster. Used, but with 6 month guarantee - worth it for the nostalgia I think :whistling:

I guess if I want to save games I'll need to buy a memory card off e-bay?

1. Where to get a fat - ebay?

Do you actually read threads? Blockbuster, £19.99, fat ps2. £24.99 for a slim.

2. Cheaper - not delivered! from ebay

cheaper and not delivered from BB.

3. you have to buy a HDD,

Obviously. The whole point of using HDL is to play games from hard drive, and the advantages that brings. A bit pointless without the HD, no?

4. Buy network adaptor

Again, obviously, and I mentioned that when I said "you can easily connect a hard drive to it (with the network adaptor)".

5. buy HD advance/ or spend ages figuring out HD loader, mem card hack etc

Spend ages? If you are slower than a brain dead chimp, sure. Takes less than 10mins to get everything setup and configured as you like.

6. rip your games to the HDD

Again, you'll have a hard time playing games from the HD without doing that.

Is this a point-out-the-bleeding obvious post?

All in all longer, more expensive just to load games off HDD, not easy!

Longer? I can fill up a 500gb hard drive with games way, way, way, way faster than I can spend buying games (after spending a long while trying to find some rarities and spending more than the cost of the ps2/hd/network adaptor on them), swapping games, burning discs. Plus the need to mod anyway to play imports.

"Just" to load games off HD? Switching my PS2 on and having all my games there, ready to be played at the press of a button seems shorter and easier to me.

If you are happy stuck in 2000, swapping discs then fine. Many of us aren't, and a fat PS2 and hdl is cheaper, easier and more reliable than soldering a hd into a slim.

Anyone with sense who is looking for a network adaptor, check cash convertors/generators. I've just bought my fourth preowned one, for £10. (cheapest was £4, most expensive £11 - even one of my brand new one didn't cost much more, which I bought less than four years ago when the nationwide retail chain WH Smith were clearing them out. Hardly rare at the time).

Colossus and Scarface both work absolutely fine with HDL, and have done for the past four years. Not sure why you would want to play scarface, mind.

Why is this expired? I got mine a few hours ago. It was a fat one but I sooo wanna play Gran Turismo 4 again :)
#40
Not to be Expired. Reserved one at Wallsend (Newcastle) slim one at 24.99 couple of hours back, but looking at it, I changed my mind and did not bought it though.
