moto g is a better purchase at this price, quad core, 1gb ram, etc..

Is not. This still has 1GB of RAM, but also has an SD card slot and is much prettier, as well as being a more sensible size.

Moto G has better screen res, better processor, better camera.

Yes, but is it as pretty? :{:p

Ask yourself these 3 questions:
1. Do I need a small phone with a small mediocre screen?
2. Do I need expandable memory for music & films?
3. You don't mind if the specs of a phone are poor.

If you answered 'yes' to any of those questions then the S3 Mini is for you.
Otherwise, get yourself an Moto G which is better in almost every aspect than the S3 Mini.

The deal price now reflects the value of the phone well, but, I think there are better phones out there for the same price.
Every review I've seen says the screen is poor & the specs are mediocre - that was when it was reviewed well over 18 months ago & 18 months in the phone industry is a long time.

I bought three of these for my sister and nieces in-store for £99 plus £10 top-up in Carphone Warehouse at the weekend. I was pretty happy with that (and they seem happy with it too!).

Don't think it has a better camera. Obviously it has a higher screen resolution and is faster but those are probably the only two 'nailed-on' advantages.

The Moto G is a much "prettier" phone than any Samsung phone. It also has stock android (rather than touchwizz) and will receive updates. I assume that the S3 mini is on 4.2 and will be stuck there indefinitely. Unless you're willing to tinker you will have software that is already two years old.

I'd say a Moto E would be a better choice than this phone as that has removable storage.

I bought an S3 mini through talktalk and applied for the NowTV gift - got the code last Friday but was only for 1 month, which I've queried, though even 1 month is better than nothing I guess.....

I wholly agree that the Moto G is a very good phone for the price, but in regards to the being stuck lon 4.2.2 issue I don't believe that this is necessarily a bad thing. I have owned a few handsets that were on 4.2 with the capability to upgrade the firmware to 4.4.x but having done so creates a couple of other issues that as of yet still have no solid fixes from Google despite the issues being widely recognised. as an example I have an LG G2 that was superb in every way especially the fantastic battery life. Upgrading the OS to 4.4.2 literally halved the battery life due to the extensive background GPS tasks, further social
integration and background data usage wit no real fox other than to disable said services which still didn't fix the issue entirely. the average user won't know how to do this either.
just googling '4.4.2 battery' brings up a plethora of bad experiences caused by upgrading to 4.4.2 from many different types of handsets and tablets.
because of this, I do believe that this handset is most capable even though it's about 2 years old and will do the average user just fine for most tasks.
either that or get a moto g lol

I've been fine with 4.4.x on my S3 for a while now but I suppose I won't see the battery problems because I got a 7000mAh battery. My dad has both of these phones and the stock software is so much easier and nicer to use than the Samsung software and I don't think that he has had any battery problems.

Seen this on smartfonestore for a while now, never thought to post it as I thought its specs were inferior to the moto G and people would vote cold... shows how much I know!

Are you kidding! Look at the deals for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7" pad and they get voted hot even though it's one of the poorest 7" tablets currently on the market. It has very bad lag and performance. I suppose people see 'Samsung Galaxy' and automatically think it's good.

If you're not bothered about the camera flash or front facing camera it's a great phone. I think that the E feels better than the S3 mini albeit I've only used each one for a few minutes each.

No I had great pleasure in 'getting out' a few weeks ago, back to my beloved Android (I also have iOS through my iPad). As much as anyone will go on about 8.1 being a massive improvement, some of the groundbreaking features have been on the other 2 mentioned platforms for an eternity (pulldown notifications). Had 2 months with a Lumia 920 and couldn't wait to get rid in the end - nice phone and hardware, not terrible OS but the apps, app integration with the OS and having to go through god knows how many options to change some settings wasn't what I was used to.

All my opinion of course

are these cheapo android phones any good for showbox via apple tv box?

Don't know why this deal is so hot. It's okay but not great. You can buy the actual S3 of ebay for about £130 or lower and as people have already mentioned moto g is the better phone,Samsung has too much bloat-ware and not the latest updates.

Probably not but when do phones ever mess up? A case can cover scuffs. For an overall better experience, the Moto g and S3 are much better.
