Targus USB 2.0 Port Replicator - PAEPR092 - £9.99

Today boffer is for a Tardis oops I have misread that and used the wrong picture lets starts again

.The Swiss army knife is a marvellous invention, not only is it small and compact but by its looks you would never have guessed it could be used for so many things. Kind of like inspector gadget, one moment he is a normal guy well as normal as I guy can be in a long grey trench coat can be. And the next thing you know he has a helicopter prop popping out of his hat and he is flying off, how cool is that.

Or even Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, I mean cars these days can do a lot of things, from connecting to your phone, automatic breaking if you get too close to the car in front and even newer cars running using hydrogen. But can any car pop out wings and fly like Chitty can, or can they blow out a rubber dingy if they land in water? Exactly Chitty is cool and no other car can compare.
Now what we have here is not a trench coat, nor is it a cool car although keep watching Boffer and you might be surprised. But what we have sure as hell holds a bunch surprises and features you would never have expected.

So here it is, a USB laptop bar

Exactly, does not look like much but once you get to know its secrets you will be amazed at what it can do:

* Only one USB 2.0/1.1 port needed for interaction & power.
* 5 port USB hub.
* Stereo Sound Card
* 10/100 Network Card (Ethernet)
* Serial Port
* Parallel Port

All that in one little bar, now thats good.

Here's some more info I found on another site of this product (ignore the warranty information):
http://uploadpsd.com/file/37951.png

I read some reviews of this product on amazon and there are a lot of 1 star ratings!
Many people complaining that it is very limited by the single usb connection to the computer.
The bandwidth is too small for a large number of peripherals to be connected at once.
The Ethernet connection probably has the most criticism, always dropping connection and not fast due to the usb bandwidth limitation.

Make sure you read the reviews before buying this product!
Personally I'd avoid it!

Thanks for the additional info magic_monkey. Where did you see the negative reviews though? Amazon has only one post reviewing it. Although one's bad enough.

Other than it having 5 usb ports I'm wondering just how good the other options are. If anyone's had experience with it then please post here. I don't personally know if it's worth the money or not but at least if you do want one you can get it cheaper today.

Ah sorry, I was reading reviews on a similar product made by Targus:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006B91E/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

It seems to have very similar functionality to the one mentioned here except it doesn't have the 5 usb ports.
Even though it isn't the product sold here, I still think that it's worth reading these reviews too.

Might be worth it for a tech support guy - having ethernet, parallel and serial on there could be a godsend if someone has old peripherals and buys a new computer

Ouch. Them thar reviews spell trouble.

Looks like it might be a piece of carp. Oh well i thought i'd post it here in case it wasn't. The apparantly huge saving over the £100 rrp seemed good.

Sometimes Boffer has great deals, sometimes they don't. Thanks to a useful post by magic_monkey we now know that this one isn't one of their best. (of which he's been suitably rep'd).:thumbsup:

Still free weasel regurgitated coffee tomorrow. No I'm not joking!:?
