I am assuming your failure to grasp the humour means you were not born here, similarly 'an old shoes'..... not that it's a crime you understand, but as someone who loves the complexity and richness of our language (Something which many foreign students view with a mixture of loathing and amazement, as they grapple with things like phrasal verbs), glaring mistakes make me want to get back in the classroom...... until I remember the salary. :(

I understand his humour, there is many free courses online so you don't have to go back to classroom.
