This is still £87.00 odd in BOOTS the chemist.

The Braun Contour Series 5895 Clean & Renew Shaver is designed with you in mind, the contour hugging head means its possible to get a closer shave than ever before. The amazing clean and renew system that this Braun shaver can boast ensures that you feel like your using a brand new razor every time. If in a rush this shaver is able to quick charge in 5 minutes and you don't need much more time for a full charge as it only takes 1 hour. This Braun contour series shaver can be used with and without being attatched to a cord, when being used cordlessly it provides 50 minutes shaving time. Comes with cleaning brush and soft travel case.

Good spot but shame that it seems to have some pretty bad reviews on 2 diff sites. Here's one.

Think this is the one which has been posted twice before (many months ago) and you actually received a Braun 390CC model instead. Interesting if the same thing happens now.

You won't get the 5895 ....you'll actuall receiver a 390cc ..... like this : !!

Ignore the reviews ....this is a superb shaver for the price.

I got a 57xx version a few years ago and still going strong, that was over £50, its good and cuts close but unable to shave some tricky parts of the face (sideys/nose area), this price is a good deal especially if your old ones is dying anyway :)

I bought the 390cc about a month ago for about £60. It's no way as good as my older Braun that I replaced and can't remember the model code. Although I think it was the first clean and renew type that I paid about £200 way back in 2003.

The 390cc does not cut it for me, pun intended.

Let me begin as to why this is such a bad product. Now please bear in mind that I'm not a very hairy person with lots of stubble and can get away without having a shave for a couple of days.

The shave is very poor and it takes ages even for me to remove the stubble and then on the occasions I have used it, I normally end up in the bathroom for a wet shave to do the job properly, which takes a fraction of the time of the Braun Contour 5895.

The automatic cleaning mechanism. Every time you shave it cleans itself, which at first I thought this was a neat idea, it isn't. More often than not, before you have finished shaving, it cuts out, telling you to clean it again, so you have to put it back in the stand which has the cleaning unit. It does it about 3 times (don't put it anywhere near your TV or telephone as it's very noisy), but then it is all wet and covered in some alcohol cleaning fluid, so unless you wait a few hours, this then goes over your face, and even then you can smell it even if you've left it for 24 hours. i was getting high when I was shaving the mustache area under my nose, like shaving and sniffing a bottle of amyl nitrate.

I've only used it a few times, and I see the cleaning solution is half empty, so it's obviously a scam by Braun to get people to buy more cleaning solution, though I cannot imagine that anyone who was unfortunate to own one of the would ever buy more cleaning solution and continue daily suffering by using this to shave every day, rather than save a lot of time and effort to use either a Gillette Mac3 or buy a different decent electric shaver.

So unless you don't mind having a horrible alcohol cleaning solution smeared on your face to get a very very poor quality shave that leaves you smelling like you've put on the cheapest aftershave in the world ... DO NOT BUY THE BRAUN CONTOUR 5895 - OFFICIALLY THE WORST ELECTRIC RASOR IN THE WORLD!

Given this a go.

I have to disagree with the review above. My review assumes that you get 390 (which I did last year). Although this is not as good as my previous Philips Coolskin shaver it is still a very good shaver and at this price you can't go that wrong. You don't have to use the cleaner if you don't want to spend money on the cleaning fluid but I personally clean it about every 3 days which keeps the shaver charge topped up and means that the fluid lasts about 3 months (ignore the Braun advice telling you to change it every 30 days). I payed about £ 3 for 2 cleaning fluids in a Boots deal so at 50p per month it is not too bad. But if you want you can just run under the tap or just brush clean. My son never uses the cleaner and his works fine. One thing is that the RRP for the replacement foil and cutter is nearly as expensive as the price you are paying for this deal so not that cheap but means that this deal is good just for the spares with a replacement shaver trhrown in for free if something goes wrong with it.

Cheers for this... will make a nice prezzie..

I got this in the deal leading up to Christmas (received the 390cc). I've used it around 5 times and given up on it. You get a quicker, cleaner and fresher cut wet shaving. I have no idea how this razor compares to other electrics but if you're a wet shaver thinking of getting this - don't bother; you'll hate it.

Good price; rubbish shave.

Need to replace the foil and blade on my current Braun shaver - might as well get this whilst its at this price instead :D
#14
Got this model at christmas 390c i think never really use the cleaning system good old tap water and the cleaning brush does a good enough job and imo i think the shaver does a excellent job great price more importantly. heat added.

What no intergrated phone?!? Seriously though is there a good electric that I would be happy with as I have always wet shaved?
#16
I've been using a Braun foil shaver for years until it finally gave up the ghost.

Just bought one of the Philips wet dry rotary ones and already find it a million times better.

Having tried both, I'm gutted I waited so long to switch.

Wet shaving is the only way to do it right. Get a Gillette Fusion and use Clinique facial scrub/gel/post shave healer ----- Can not be beaten. Once you've tried the right products you won't want to change :)

Got this for xmas and have to say it is really good if you persevere and think about how it works. I get a closer shave than I did with a wet shave and despite having ridiculously sensitive skin no longer get a rash after shaving. The trick is to hold it very gently against your face so it is barely touching your skin and move it around quite quickly but doing each area several times, this allows the hairs to be caught and cut by the foil and gives a really close shave. Treating it like a wet shave and pressing harder for a closer shave do not work. I hated it at first but now dislike wet shaves as they do not cut close enough.

Bought this for OH last year from Tesco, same offer. Did not get the 390CC and did sent the 5895 back..can't tell you what my OH thought of it but it was not favourable.

What is the benefit of a 40 quid plus electric shaver over a normal wet shave?
#26
Nice bit of a price-shaving here!
#27
Has anyone received this shaver yet and can confirm that you are still getting the 390cc and not the 5895 like whats happened in the past?
#28
I have ordered one for pick up so I will let you know, but as it has 5895 on the picture they will find it difficult to give the 3 series. Though looking through the websites what is the difference between the 2 it seems to be that the Braun Series 3 390cc Clean & Renew System Rechargeable Foil Electric Shaver includes the 5895 shaver (how strange) but at that price and no delivery it seems a good idea and an amazing price. Lets hope it works.
Heat added thanks for the tip.
