Good find - though I noticed the usual moronic 'cold' vote has appeared - anonymously of course, they don't have the balls to explain why.
good find - heat and rep added.

I have not voted yet, however, there are cheaper alternatives out there that are less invasive, like the one's that you just place on the forehead to get the reading instead of shoving it in a baby/childs ear and do exactly the same job.

Hot for me, paid full rrp 39.99 few months ago. Wife's a doctor and she said at the time the forehead reading ones aren't as good. The most reliable are the rectal ones :S

have had a few themometers but this is bloody amazing! no competition!

I've got one (older version). They only touch just inside the ear & cause no discomfort when using even on babies. Accurate reading in a second. Has clear plastic single use covers for hygiene reasons. Great product, wouldn't be without mine :)

That's what we're replacing. We've got a Beechams forehead thermometer at the moment and the reading fluctuates drastically. Last night our daughter read 40.6 degrees C ! but immediately after she was 38.5 and so on. I suppose they're ok for a general guidance but no where near accurate enough for us. We use thermoscans at work and friends have them and they're appear to be very reliable.

Heat added - I have been trying to use the one you hold under the arm for several months, not very successfully may I add, also doesn't give the most accurate reading! Have ordered one of these for my 20 month old son. Thanks

These are very good. I would avoid forehead thermometers as they can be quite inaccurate.

Even better. Mine's already been dispatched but I've dropped them an e-mail just in case ...a pounds a pound after all :-D

We we're struggling with an under-arm one last night ...very difficult and as a result her temp read 33.4 :? even though she was burning up.

Good price, it's £34 in Boots. Ordered, heat & rep added.

thanks - ordered one

I've had a version of this for a few years. Tough, reliable, simple to use and a godsend. I don't know how people managed before these and Calpol!
#23
great thermometer no doubt and a very good price. If you use it a lot you'll find that the disposable lens filters are not cheap - but within the family, re-using the same one is an option I suppose.

BTW - forehead or under-arm devices are not recommended as not accurate enough (as quite obvious from all the previous posts)

underarm ones were used in hospital after we had our baby recently - they should be accurate if done right - just its a bit of a hassle keeping the probe steady on a flailing child.

Absolute bargain at this price. Like others have said, forehead ones are a waste of time, they only take surface temperature not actual body temperature, and there is no discomfort for the child using this one! Heat added

You can get a Nurofen one in Lloyds Chemist for £10 which works just as well (but doesn't come with a free toy)

Order yesterday evening and dispatched today via royal mail.

thanks to the op for this, our family doc recommended this to us over all other types, ie; underarm, forehead etc so ordered it as soon as i saw your post, heat & rep added

cheers

Excellent find, these are £39.99 in Tesco, and are used in my local hospital childrens ward (as my wee girl recently found out, but fine now) so if its good enough for them it'll do for me.

Ours arrived today - excellent product
