Im gona try this tomorrow. But will feel a tit if they dont scan, or tell me you must buy the cereal to get them

That's probably why they were out of stock when I bought my two boxes of cereal but couldn't get the bowls as they had all gone!!!!!

Technically it is stealing as they are not offering to sell these bowels and it is irrelevant what the self-checkout scanner recognises them as. You will be caught. You will go to jail.

Paying for a free item. Will probably get about 2 years in jail for that (_;)

I went on Tuesday and picked one up, didnt think it was bad price at whatever they were selling for, but just checked my receipt, it went through at 1p. :-)

works in rotherham - bargain !!

actually you wont as the item scans at that price instead of notifying an error. It also doesnt say anywhere the bowls are not to be bought without cereal. They wouldnt have a leg to stand on. and if they tried I would defend you as im a Lawyer.

If the seller tells you a price (at the checkout) and then takes your money and gives you a receipt, I would have thought you have bought it fair and square.

What are you in for?

Murder. You?

Paying 1p for a promotional cereal bowl.

My local Tesco's Express in Exeter had these behind the counter on a shelf a couple of days ago and were trying to sell them off for around £2.20 each!

These have been going through at 1p for a couple of weeks, my sis in law works at Morrisons and told me all the staff had been buying them so it's well known about and all above board.
#21
Just my luck went in today and there were loads on the shelf hope its this price tomorow will pop in after dropping the kids off at school

Someone should report them to Kelloggs,,,,, these big chain received these free of charge for promotional purposes, yet they're trying to make a profit out of it as if they don't make enough money already.
#23
I can confirm that they do indeed scan at the till for 1p. I work at one of the Morrisons in Surrey on the Grocery department. We have about 10 boxes out back with about 30 in each. Buy the bowls just don't be greedy and you won't get stopped. I have 8 of the bowls and plan to get a few more.

So any confirmed still of these?

It's definitely available in all stores. We got an email saying because of the way our system works and the way the offer works, bowls are scanning at 1p. Although they are not supposed to be bought separately, we cannot refuse the sale if a customer wants to buy the bowl by itself!

no it is not.you pick an item, the supermarket charges you (it's not important 1p or 100 pound),gives you a receipt.you have done nothing wrong.if there is a problem they should sort it themselves.

I totally get your point, that from a legal point of view you have done nothing wrong, but let's not fool ourselves by saying there is nothing 'wrong' going on here. Just because prostitution is legal in Holland doesn't make it a good thing to do, it is still wrong (i know that buying a cereal bowl for a penny is nowhere near the same level as that before anyone launches a tirade at me!).

Just because you can do it, doesn't mean you should. we all know they are promotional items, Morrisons know they shouldn't be selling them but we have a responsibility as consumers not to buy them, otherwise they will continue to do the same in the future. You may say 'who cares' or 'it doesn't matter' and that's fine, and a valid point of view. I just don;t think we should be kidding ourselves that this is right. If it were, the Morrisons employee wouldn't be encouraging everyone not to be greedy. They wouldn't stop me buying 50 packs of tomatoes if i wanted, so if this is so legit then why would it matter how many i bought....

Technically legal, but a shady way to buy a cereal bowl :p

I filled a basket full at my local, they were the only things I bought. Cost me 46p.

If there is something wrong that implies that there are consequences either/both parties. I can't see this having any significant impact on Morrisons or Kellogs.

Heat from me!

Profit, at 1p a bowl? Are you joking? What about the store handling costs, etc,. The only benefit would be if shoppers bought other goods while instore.

^^ gotta love the people who think that supermarkets make huge margins on everthing. LOL
