Has anyone any info on this brand ?

I've just bought my wife one - reduced from 295.00 to 88.00 on Amazon and am undecided as to weather to keep it. Are Breil a genuine high end brand or one of these names that have been 'bigged' up and will eventually be seen on Bid-up.tv or QVC.....????

They are a quality swiss/italian brand....amazon are not exagerating prices here.
Some marketing stuff here if you can be bothered....

Breil watches were originally based on the shores of Lake Maggiore, on the Swiss/Italian border under the watchful eye of Innocente Binda. Breil watches have been a master watchmaker since 1906, with Innocente Binda aspiring to combine Swiss technical excellence with the still unrivalled Italian aesthetic. The founder of Breil watches moved to the fashion capital of Milan in 1930 - bringing them a step nearer to their goal, and in 1937, Breil watches as a brand was launched.

Watches by Breil boast a hybrid of quality engineering with a high fashion twist, and it was these features that bought the Breil watch brand an immediate cult following. However, it was not until the accession in 1995 of Marcello and Simone, grandsons of Innocente Binda, that the Breil watches brand really took off.

Breil watches were in a perfect position to capitalise on the changing face of the watch industry. The Swiss timepiece, although renowned for its accuracy, lacked the polish of the burgeoning fashion pack that was demanded, whilst fashion houses often produced watches of inferior quality. It was here that Breil watches wholly succeeded.
Slogan of Breil Watches: ‘Take Anything But My Breil'

The Breil watches advertising campaign that hit Italy the summer of 1995 was based on the headline: ‘Take Anything But My Breil'. This featured large Breil watches modelled on ‘Super Models' that would normally only be worn by men. The unisex soul of the collection embodies the Breil watches brand character and values: strength and sensuality.

The styling of Breil Watches is undeniably modern and Italian - chunky yet sleek, with a whole range of features on many Breil watch models including: chronographs, dual time, and water resistance to a variety of depths. Citizen watches similarly offer an array of functions teamed with outstanding design as with Gents Breil watches.

They're a genuine good brand. Italian. More info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binda_Group

They do some cheaper "fashion brands" too like the Breil Tribe range which are more in line with the prices of Diesel watches so still not dirt cheap.

Not sure this one is for me but I still like the look of the watch. Think most people would recognise that Breil is not off the market.

Yeah because £295 is excessive for a quality watch isn't it? :whistling:

Okay, so people like Charlize Theron and Edward Norton that wear and advertise this brand are hobos.

I have a Breil Globe, it's exceptionally well built for the money. They're not a top end brand like Omega, Tag, Breitling etc, but still well worth a look. I'd definitely buy another.

What a load of tosh!!!

Maybe try this:

http://www.watchshopuk.com/gents-sekonda-chronograph-watch-3922-p99927661.html

Okay it doesn't have the exaggerated RRP but then again you don't need to find their homepage as you already know that they have been selling watched for years.

Really not sure why people have to hijack threads with their own personal views.

If you don't like the "deal" move on.

It's a forum, if you don't agree with my opinion give your own or move on. :)

I'd take a Breil over a Sekonda any day. I believe it's called personal choice. Some like them, some don't.

Nice Argos watch that Sekonda.

They have some standards. Dont see them advertising for Sekonda. Or Sekonda sponsoring yachts. Some difference in their websites to. Oh, and you need money to pay those decent actors, wonder how they made that, cant be from being an established company that sells decent stuff.

Forget it twist. You're not going to sway an Argos man.
I just wish people would vote according to the deal not according to individual tastes.

So they pay actors and sponsor yachts? Okay. Now my point is that I don't see these in the shops, haven't heard of them before and don't believe the silly RRP. If this floats your boat then go for it.

Now I don't own a Sekonda and not sure if I have ever. I wear a Suunto for play and a Rotary for work.

The next watch that I want is a Rolex, Submariner or Sea Dweller, not sure yet.

This brand would appear to me to be similar to the Klaus Kobec that you see in the glossy mags with silly RRP's and glitzy Ads.

I'm sure they are other watches for this money that ay appeal but I haven't the time to look as I don't need a new watch.

Do you know what high street shops sell these?
#29
Just playing devil's advocate here, but the front page of Sekondas site has John Sergeant featured, Breil has Edward Norton & Charlize Theron.

Sekonda sponsors John Sergeant on the tourist trail on ITV 1

Breil sponsors Charlize Therons mouth watering body.

Which is more attractive?

Seriously, Breil are a long established brand. Not over exposed like some maybe though.

You can but them from GoldSmiths on the highstreet.

Yeah but it's not an inflated RRP...you can't get this watch anywhere else for less than £148 (as my original post stated) and that's what should make this a good/bad deal.

The only other argument is that the quality is poor which i'm afraid you cannot prove. Just because and Italian brand is not available or as well known in the UK as much as a UK brand (Sekonda) does not make them inferior.

Right, better do some work... :)

Nothing like Klaus Kobec. Breil usually found in independent Jewellers alongside other mid-level brands like Tissot. Not their nicest watch granted, but great price for the quality.

It would seem not anymore, at least they don't appear on the website. I will also get on with some work..........

I am Italian and I can tell that Breil is a very good brand, classy and fashionable, one of the top notches on the market in Italy, way better than sekonda, seiko and many many others.. quite expensive too, the amazon RRP is not exaggerated. I am tempted but I agree with people saying that this model is not particularly nice-looking...
#40
Where's the corilation that a good quality mid-range watch will be available on the high street? Sounds to me like someone's a sucker for branding they see in shops and anything they've never heard of must be crap.

I've come accross Breil in the past, but never looked at them in much detail yet I know for a fact a Sekonda isn't in the same league.
