I bought one last christmas, absolute rubbish, it uses only milk to make a 'cappuccino' from instant coffee, requires a full clean every time, the coffee chamber is a nightmare it crystalises the coffee granuals, and you cannot clean it. mine seized up so took it back to Comet, told them it was utter s**te, they gave me my money back, cost me £45 last year, (it was reduced then too)

I'd like to dispute that lol.
I got the Stainless steel one last year. I find it great.
And it cleans itself lol.

My tip would be to just put the Coffee directly into the cup before you start. :)

I have a Gaggi Cubika that makes great coffee, Comet and Argos have it for £149, Gaggia uk sell reconditioned machines for £99 with a 2 year guarantee and 120 pods

Personally I would go for the Aldi 15 bar espresso machine. It was one of their special offers a week or two ago for £39.99.

I've got one of these at home http://www.amazon.co.uk/DeLonghi-Treviso-espresso-cappuccino-maker/dp/B0000C6XCE/ and it is adequate, but its a bit weedy for steaming milk. At work I use one of the machines that Woolworths sold for £30 a couple of years ago. That is a bit bigger, but a lot more oomph.

Then with the spare cash, you could get a burr grinder, so you can use freshly-ground coffee. They usually start from ~ £40. Amazon sell the Dualit one for £55.

agreed - although i was concerend about the negative feedback, but have to say it works flawlessly and makes fantastic drinks, well worth £30, get one and remember to clean it properly.

Try here: http://www.gaggia.co.uk/

and here: http://www.gaggia.uk.com/specialhomepage.htm

for a mixture of new and reconditioned machines with 12 - 24 months guarantee. I have a second hand gaggia classic and it is a very robust and reliable machine that makes great espresso drinks.

The Morphy Richards 'Mr Capuccino maker has a milf frother and for £29.99 (Reduced in Argos atm) is and absolut must. The milf frother is the best, and coffee tastes great. My pick by far: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4227353/Trail/searchtext%3EMORPHY+COFFEE.htm

Capuccino from instant coffee!!! Hope it tastes better than it sounds.
#13
How can you make a proper cappucino with instant its just plain wrong, the real deal made properly will always taste better!
#14
Agree with the above, you cannot make cappucino (or espresso) out of instant!!
I've got a Gaggia and it does the business fine, with proper coffee of course.:)

Brought one of these from Homebase a few months ago reduced down to something silly like £17.99

Took it home, made a coffee, tasted great, tried another within minuetes of the first but it was all clogged up, tried to clean it for well over an hour with no joy.

I gave up and took it back.

I understand things need to be cleaned BUT I make a coffee I want to drink it not have to worry about cleaning the machine BEFORE I can take a sip.

I agree, its cr*p, i bought one from argos couple of months ago, made a coffee, went to clean machine, it had totally jammed up!!
Returned it and bought a Kenwood Frothie, half the price and a lot less bother to clean!! You can actually drink your coffee THEN clean it!!! Not like this one!!
Give it a miss!!
