I had about 5 different Breville kettles that featured the illumination feature in as many weeks. On 3 models the lights stopped working after a couple of days, the other 2 models just stopped boiling after about 5 days.

Ouch! Unlucky I think :| We've had two of the lightning models in the last 6 years and they've been very reliable. Both have been used many times night and day, every day with no problems. I'm not just saying this because I posted this one, but I would definitely get another Breville when we need another.

Thanks for the feedback, it's good to get others opinions for these things :)

I currently have a Breville kettle...its identical to this one other than it doesnt change colour...just blue..and we have had no problems with it in the year weve had it.

The only 'slight' bugbear we have is that the compartment that holds the filter in place must expand out of shape a little over time and you have to sometimes push the lid down quite hard to click it into place where that compartment meets the lid.

And one GREAT plus is that this kettle boils MEGA QUICKLY!!!!....which is a godsend when your desperate for a drink:thumbsup:

The question must be asked as to why you would continually buy the same or similar product from the SAME manufacturer after it has failed on you so many times??? its bizarr...a glutten for punishment!!

I had 2 Indesit washing machines fail within a couple of years and now i will never buy from that Manufacturer again because of it...i just wouldnt keep buying their products every time they fail!!..that would be crazy!!

Yeah :) I agree with the filter part and the solid tap down to close the lid, but they're sturdy enough to cope with this.

Looks like a nuclear reactor!

My dad always buys fancy metallic kettles but due to the obvious heat involved they always end up leaking - I assuming because of some small degree of expansion and contraction taking place.
