when you read stories like this, makes you think something like this product can save lives - I know there are other ways to make chips, but if you are going to fry, get something with thermal protection, so when you fall asleep in front of the telly, your kitchen isn't on fire

bargain. not sure it has it but I think a filter i essential so you cna drain the oil away and then re use it otherwise a nightmare to clean.

I cant understand why anyone now buys a deep fat fryer with the risk that it brings to your home and family.

The risk is when you use a chip pan. Fryers are safe these days

Think thats a ridiculous comment. It only brings risk if you use it irresponsibly. Gas or electric rings can set things on fire if used improperly. Sometimes deefrying is the most logical and viable method of cooking. If you are irresponsible or an idiot then perhaps refrain from buying.

I have this deep fat fryer and would recommend it. As for it setting on fire i'm glad it DOES NOT!! partner left it on in my utility room for 7HRS and went out noticed when i got home. He unplugged washing mashine instead, now all my plugs have labels on them.

I set my chip pan on fire once. I was a teenager at the time and left it on for the fat to melt while I done my hair in my room. I forgot all about but luckily my dad came home at that point, noticed the chip pan was on fire and put it out. Luckily it hadn't spread beyond the pan and am so glad he came home when he did as I'd probably have panicked and been unable to extinguish it.

I haven't deep fried for years and feel a failure as a Scot so may well buy one of these and give it a go.

Yes - just been to Asda Living Altrincham & there's still lots left! Currys across the other side are selling it for £39.99 - could get them to price match for a cheaper price!
