bought this over 18 months ago for about 35quid, it may filter water but it doesn't have the mesh bit near spout for the constant limescale these seem to attract, also you have to wait for it to filter water before boiling so no such thing as a quick cuppa. Finally it doesn't hold much water. Hope my rant helps stop people thinking this is a good deal.

We had a similar Breville kettle, lasted OK for two years and then broke. Every kettle I've had has either just stopped working or boiled indefinitely. This one gave out white flames/sparks (around the switch on the kettle) and filled the air with a heavy smoke. Had to open windows and take my daughter outside. Spent £7 posting it off to Breville but yet to hear anything back. Now we plan to keep buying cheaper kettles but fill them from a Brita Filter jug (which should last years).

Never mind all this faffing about with filters. If you want a good solid and very fast kettle then look no further than ASDA white fast boil kettle for I think £9.79. Obviously it hasnt got any fancy chrome or lights but its the fastest kettle ive ever used.
