Hi just popped into my local Sainsburys and in their seasonal display at the end of the aisle i noticed the Brita jug with 12 cartridges was being sold for £28 . This seems to be less than the price for 12 cartridges on their own. As it was in their seasonal display could be a national deal but label said reduced to clear.

If your a little more serious about removing many contaminants in a pitcher or counter based system, e.g. Chlorine, heavy metals (not guns n roses) then take a look @ British berkefeld and berkey gravity fed filters, Brita makes the water taste a little better and reduces a few contaminants but doesn't do much in reality

must admit i dont switch my filter every 4 weeks as Brita suggests. I do so every 12 weeks. I cant say i've noticed much of a difference in the last week compared to the first week wen i change it.

Same. We forget to change our filter all the time and I don't notice a difference. However what I do notice is how much better my kettle and iron is using filtered water. No limescale what so ever after 3 years of heavy use.
