We use one of these for one thing. Tea. Our tap water, while being perfectly palatable for squash, cooking and even on its own, is rubbish for tea. You get a horrible film that settles out on the top of the water and the maxtra cartridges sort it out very nicely. This is a good price especially considering it comes with all those cartridges as well. Also there is a little electronic monitor which tells you when it is time to replace the cartridge; ignore it, its good for a week or two after that.

After drinking filtered water for a few years I can clearly taste the difference between filtered and non-filtered and can only drink non-filtered if diluted in orange or something similar. Don't knock a deal just because it doesn't apply to you

The main thing is to have the RDA of water.Having a water filter may help with that however putting a jug of water in the fridge so you can tell how water you a drinking will also help with the RDA of water.

It sure tastes a lot better after being filtered.
If I pour a pint straight from the tap and leave it an hour or two when I drink it I can taste the chemicals that have been added which is horrible; filtering the water removes that taste.
I don’t taste the chemicals if I drink the water as soon as I pour it from the tap but they are still there of course; they just take a while to settle out.
