    hot !

I like the Brita filtered water for the kettle as I descale it once or twice a week otherwise, there's a lot of chalk in the water around here. A filter lasts two months for us, so it's cheaper than buying descaler.

    Thanks OP, great price :)

I don't need these, because I am in a soft water area, but I bought 3 packs for my mum who lives in a hard water area - it makes a huge difference to the way the tea tastes with her water.

There are a lot of people here that seem to think there is no taste difference between filtered and unfiltered water. Perhaps they cannot taste (or see) the difference. I am sure there are many who could not differentiate between chump steak and chateaubriand, or Castillo del Diablo and a nice Margaux. Then again, they may just be lucky and live in an area where the water tastes good. But criticising those who make their water potable by using filters assumes that we are gullible dupes. I take exception to this, for I am among their number. I submit the following arguments that there is a difference in taste:

    1. I can taste when the filter is near the end of its life. If there were no better taste, I would not be able to tell when the charcoal in the filter was becoming saturated.

    2. Chowhound ran a blind taste test on Brita filters (using vodka).

    3. More conventional blind test by some science-loving kids.

So rather than tell us we're gullible, perhaps you could go on a some kind of epicurian course where you learn to appreciate refined flavours in food and drink?

I think it's like buying "content" insurance. If you can afford it, just get it. Otherwise when "bad" things happen, don't regret. And don't go around trolling saying it's not good or 1001 reasons why you don't need it.

Really good deal. Thanks for posting OP

Great price, heat added. I went for the knockoffs here that are bigger and meant to last twice as long for the same price. Quite pleased so far. But if I'd seen this I would have gone for the real deal.

Good price, but unfortunately they're all a bit rubbish unless you get a proper filter and not one of these jug things. Read quite a bit about them not really doing much to the water quality, unfortunately.

I make two cups of tea. One using water from the filter, one using water which hasn't been filtered. The difference is noticeable.

Rather than reading other people's opinions why don't you try it for yourself?

Had one, binned it for a PROPER filteration unit, not a mickey mouse one. Patronising ****!

I lost faith in public opinion regarding taste and flavour when Nandos started to be considered a classy restaurant.

I can assure you all that my tap water tastes disgusting without the filter which has lead me to complain to the water board. It has a chemical/chlorine like taste to it, unless I use a filter, or just buy bottled.

And chilling it or leaving it to stand will remove the taste without any filter.

Tried that for a few days after moving in, still tasted bad.
