Great find thanks

£28 for the Savoy in Blackpool is pretty cheap...especially during the illuminations. The other 2 in Blackpool are usually pretty expensive too..

"Fully non-refundable - No refunds will be made if the booking is cancelled or changed."

Better make up your mind before you order. For me it's worth the risk - I mean, what do you get for £18? A new DVD or a meal out. As long as there's no cockroaches I'm probably ok. :-D

I have been booked in this hotel a couple of times through work. It is dreadful.

Scratched up furniture, portable TV just has channels 1-4 and wifi only works in the lobby.

Not a place to stay for pleasure.

i dont know any review site that gives any of the brittania hotels a decent review.... not everyone can be wrong

easy to find just type in name of the hotel then words review after it.................

These hotels are the worst I've ever had the misfortune to stay in - frankly, 18p would be too steep. The Birmingham one is very dated, the bedrooms and public rooms (particularly the function rooms) are shabby and filthy, and the service is atrocious.

Don't forget to wipe your feet on the way out if you book!
#21
I stayed in the coventry hill hotel a few weeks back and i wouldnt pay a penny to stay there was filthy, not sure what the others are like but i'd steer clear of the one in coventry.
#22
I stayed at the Manchester hotel.

When I say stayed - I meen I turned up at 10pm, took one look at my room and walked out to a Premier Lodge. The place is a disgrace!

I'll dispute that! Once mrs kristoff gets me handcuffed to that four-poster I don't think I'll be worried too much about only having four channels and the mould on the bathroom ceiling:w00t:

Where does it state this? The T&Cs for my booking state:

"A credit card is required at the time of booking. The credit card will not be charged unless you fail to arrive. You may cancel your reservation up to 14.00 local hotel time on the day of arrival without any financial penalty. You will be asked for a credit card upon arrival at the hotel. The card will be authorised but not charged at that time. If you wish to pre pay or pay by any other means please contact the reservations office at the hotel of your choice. All taxes are included in the price"

The main reason I ask is that I am now looking at cancelling (not because of the reviews-I booked for the Prince of Wales, Southport, although they are ALL bad!!-but because got my dates mixed up and I've got something on the night I booked).

Just re-read the posts and realised you and the person you were replying to have booked the Britannia International so I'm assuming this is a T&C specific to that hotel??

When you get to the "enter guest details" page and click on the T&C link you will be informed that it's non-refundable.
Yes, it might well be refundable on their £65+ rooms, but not their "Special Offer RO" rooms.

Just check Southport. Hmm... you're right. The T&C doesn't state that.

Don't worry about the chewing gum losing it's flavour. Just make sure that you're not losing the keys to the handcuffs!
Unless it's part of a sinister plan..... :whistling:

Trip Advisor published a list of the 10 worst hotels in Britain - http://styledlife.excite.co.uk/news/1259/Britains-worst-hotels-revealed

I notice that 4 of them are Britannia Hotels!!

Reading through the reviews on the Trip Advisor site for the Birmingham Britannia hotel, some of the reviews are so bad they are almost funny! Makes Fawlty Towers look like a palace.

All booked. Dirty weekend here we, erm, come....

I have booked for Birmingham and I have just read the following review online...oh dear! As long as your expectations are low enough then I'm your stay will be fine...

"As we enter the hotel we were immediatley struck at how dirty and smelly the entrance area was. Then the desk staff left alot to be desired rude and unfriendly. As we checked in late we were anxious to get to bed... What horrors. the matteress on the bed should have been sent to the skip years ago. Refusing to stay in this room we were moved to another room. Here the bed was okay but the noise. As we tried to close the window to reduce the noise we noticed that the window was broke and had been packed with newspaper. Again we moved to anothe room. As it was late we decide to stay. Next day my husband noticed that his watch was missing. He remebered leaving it in the second bedroom. Following enquiries we discovered that the room had not been let out to other customers. We waited on the duty manager coming to speak to us regarding this. We waited as we though that he would be contacting the police he did not and we realised that we had missed part og the celebration. On checking out i was assured that the genreral manger would contact me to date a week later no one from this hotel has bothered to get in touch. So much for customer relations.... do yourself a favour and stay away honestly it is awful."

I just got back from staying in the Britannia International, I don't know what all the rating sites were on about. It was a nice room, clean, staff were friendly... I wouldn't have paid full price for it but I am a member of this site and wouldn't want to pay full price for anything lol. I didn't try the other facilities like the pool or bar so can't comment on those but for 18 quid it was great and I'm booking another night now :)

p.s. It definitely makes you feel pretty smug when standing in line and the person in front is forking out over £700 for 5 nights in the same room you are paying £18 for.

Stayed in stockport Britannia hotel for the football what a disgrace the biggest dump in the world it should be closed down asap.

Since today is the last day, I will try to book myself a bargain break. Great find, heat added :-) xx

Sounds like you will be dirty after staying in any of these LOL :p

Do not stay at Bosworth Hall. Magnificent building but not enough money spent on it. Needs refurbishment. I was ex staff there. unsure of rest of hotels. But there is not enough money invested in them.

Gatwick Europa booked the day before we fly out to Rome, got the room, Spa bath and dinner for less than our normal taxi to the airport from home! Heat added for extending my holiday by 1 day for nothing!
