not bad, just had a look and dinner bed and breakfast in the best available room for one night for a family of four, two adults and two kids £85 in Norbreck Castle in Blackpool. Been there before and loved it they have great entertainment for kids including a mini cinema showing HSM etc! Its own sports bar attached!

Hmmm thats close to my birthday....should I.......Shouldnt I......????

Do not touch with a barge pole!!! We stayed at the Norbreck Castle in Blackpool, it was 3 yrs ago but had recently allegedly had a refit then!! and it was appaling, the corridors were filthy, smelt of sick, rooms were horrendous and last xmas we stayed at the one in Birm city centre, what another awful experience, dirty, smelly, old furniture/beds etc and we have also made the mistake of staying in one as a park and ride thing at manchester airport, again not good!

We only ate at the first one we stayed at, Blackpool as we did the dinner bed and breakfast deal, evening meal was awful, we didn't eat it and my other half went out to get a takeout as we had a 4 month old baby at time so were stuck in at night. breakfast was edible! We didn't dare eat at the others!!

Your prob thinking why have we stayed 3 times? Well, Blackpool was awful but thought the airport one couldn't be too bad, gave it a go and Birmingham centre, we had a last minute business meeting and nowhere else had any rooms avail, we now know why!!

Travelodge have a good offer on for Dec, go there!!

I stayed there 20 years ago and the description is exactly as I would have given it then. Amazing to think it has not improved!

stayed in Britannia Manchester due to flight delay. absolutely terrible and certainly not worth £9, nor worth spoiling Christmas

dont stay at the trevelodge in birmingham - broad street...i wouldnt let a dog sleep there.....feels like a rundown hostel.....awful, usually stay at the crowne plaza or jurys in for not alot more (£20-30)

Sorry - voted cold from me - you'd have to pay me the £9 quid to stay there.
Once bitten etc.... (come to think of it, I was probably bitten more than once.....)

maybe Im not as fussy as others but Ive stayed at 2 in Manchester, (Stockport and Portland Street) and my son stayed at the one in Didsbury with no complaints. Maybe I wouldnt want to spend christmas there but for an overnight stay £9 sounds good to me
#11
Have stayed at the britannia in Manchester ( portland st ) a few times, and yes its no ritz, and yes if I ended up in it for christmas I would be feelign misserable, but for £9 its bang on, much cheaper than me getting a taxi back home, even with the car parkign fee at the NCP over the road, which you get 20% discount on when you give your parkign ticket into the hotel reception.

For £9 you cant go wrong, infact I stayed at the manc one only 4 weeks ago, and the room was recently re decorated and re carpeted and a new bathroom. I thought for £9 I would have had a dungeon, but nope a nice new room.

heat !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good deal if you consider it as a cheaper alternative to an expensive taxi home, but I strongly advise against booking Birmingham. Infact I'd rather bed down in Maccy D's than Britannia Birmingham.

The Hotel is right in the centre of town and seems to attract a lot of unwelcome visitors. People are allowed to walk in and out unchallenged and I have heard numerous accounts of belongings being stolen from allegedly secure rooms. The fire exits are left open fairly regularly too.

Seriously, I would not recommend you book it. If you really must stay in a Hotel in Birmingham and you are on a budget then The Jurys Inn on Broad street is a better option.
#15
Jurys is a lot lot more expensive than this (min £40-50) and Crowne Plaza (as someone else said earlier) is significantly more than that too. So its kind of unfair to compare these to £9 a night!!

Very dodgy hotel company - some of their hotels are in the TripAdvisor 'dirtiest hotels in the UK'.

Sometimes saving money just brings other problems...
