OK if you just want a cheap place to doss when you plan to be off your face. Wouldn't eat in one though. The Cov one is only ever about 25 quid.
No it's not.

Use a B&B instead

Yes it is

If you want a room too hot to sleep in, with stained threadbare bedding, **** soaked worn out mattresses and dickheads running up the corridor all night then yes, it is OK.

If not, get a b&b

It does make me laugh, when someone pays £40 for a room and then moans its a dump, happens on Trip advisor all the time....
Its not 5 Star Blah blah blah, the breakfast was rubbish etc ect. Its £40, don't expect the Ritz and you will have a good time, its a roof over your head and best of all its CHEAP as Chips!!!

Go and have a great time all :-) Just don't start moaning when you come home, life is too short, if you want something nicer, then you have to pay for it. Simples

Rant over, time for a cuppa
stayed in Llandudno and Manchester. pretty poor rooms but food is good. were told we would have a bottle of wine in the room and it was sparkling wine from Lidl which they were seling for 99p. I know coz I used to work there.

pretty sure this deal is or was on groupon recently for cheaper. possibly not all hotels available though!!
Britannia Hotels promise you won't book cheaper than their website.

The bus trip I went there on was only 89 pounds and I stayed there two nights....about a month ago.
Stayed in the Manchester one, food was great, got my money's worth at tea-time alone. The hotel itself was a bit dated, but for the price not that bad. Seemed to be a hot spot for the over 60's, I went there as part of a bus trip package and I was only one of two people under 60.
The one in Liverpool is the famous Adelphi hotel. A 99 year old grade 2 listed building with 402 en suite bedrooms, extensive marbel paneling and a 'Sefton Suite' that's an exact replica of the first class smoking lounge on the Titanic. Apparantly the bedroom doors all open outwards (like on a ship). It was regarded as the most luxurious hotel outside of London back in it's day and featured on BBC's eight part fly on the wall documentary "Hotel" back in 1997 if anyone remembers? "Just cook will ya!"

The problem with Brittania Hotels is the variation in price, if someone had paid the full price rate for the room when it is sometimes £140 a night i can see why they get the bad reviews - it isn't the ritz!! but when you can get the room half board for £50 a night including a bottle of wine, for the price it is very good value.
Newbold
"Ranked #35 of 44 hotels in Coventry" - Tripadvisor - Read the reviews

If you thought Travelodge were bad..............:p
Stayed last year on a Fri and Sat night. Found it fine. Good location too. If 35th of 44 hotels in Coventry, then the others must be four star and expensive!
wicked price, covnetry is a 'massif' night out. you should all get on this and party it up in the coventry summer sunshine!!

Have stayed at a few brittania hotels - folkestone, brighton and gatwick , all of them had mixed reviews and been fine.
Stayed at gatwick for the night for £50 including breakfast, dinner and wine, worked out about £5 for the room when you costed the food and drink into it and also worked out cheaper than staying travelodge/premier inn with no food included.

Must have stayed at folkestone about 5 times now nice for a quick getaway, never had a problem in any of them.
The food is average, but no worse than harvester etc, the rooms are clean if a bit dated, free wifi etc.

You get what you pay for, so just don't expect too much.

Heat added.

If you found clean Britannia hotels then very well done. The ones I have stayed at (and they trick you by not disclosing it's a Britannia) were filthy. Filthy and falling to bits.
Britannia hotels are NASTY....

Bear in mind this is a long way from the city centre (though on a good bus route) but convenient for the airport, they used to have a shuttle bus to the airport, I don't know if they still do though.

I used to drive that Shuttle bus ;)
I think this is a bargain, spend a LOT more than this just taking the missus out for a meal.

Next time we fancy going out for dinner, this will be what we do.

Thanks OP

Which are the £25 deals as cheapest I could find is £29 - £35??

Found them looking at the wrong pricing...

Edited By: Oscar33 on Feb 15, 2012 19:25: Correction
£25 per room would be a good deal but this is £25 per person so it isn't.
Have used these hotels before when offer is on and find them good value for money. They are not five star but you are not paying 5 star prices. Food is edible and plentiful. and will certainly visit again.
This might be cheap but my experiences of this chain have been very very poor (as have my MIL who stayed in the one in llandudno last year), IMO £25 is about all one of their rooms is worth. Cold from me

Nowadays I wouldn't stay in a Britannia Hotel if they paid me £19.99. The ones I have stayed in have all been awful places. They seem to specialise is buying once good hotels that are getting a bit seedy and then spending nothing on them and letting them get worse. Mainly full of bewildered looking coach parties and foreign visitors wondering what they have let themselves in for.

Suggest you read the Tripadvisor ratings

I think there are soon going to be an awful lot of posts from people who've actually experienced Britannia Hotels 'hospitality' - and have no desire to experience it again. Even if they were giving it away. (_;)

dont do it hotel is awful
Went to this hotel last year. 29.99 for BB and evening meal plus free drink for 1 hour. We paid for a upgraded room which was so noisy we had to buy ear plugs to sleep at all. The food was not good and the locations although good for shops was not good for being able to have a good nights sleep!!

We will never go again not even if it was free!!!!
Yeah it's cheap, but it's nasty!
Please read the reviews and check the photos from previous guests:
For example:
"Corridors were smelly and very ragged but the room was fine, spacious, except for a hole behind the toilet showing rubble "

Meh!

Locations not too bad, hotel is awful. As with almost all Britannia Hotels, looks like it hasn't been touched for about thirty years, and is seriously depressing.

Can't really complain about the price, but eating/drinking champagne in that setting, is like polishing a ****.
britannia nottingham was formely the old holiday inn hotel.then it was taken over by britannia whose hotel decoration policy seems to be early bubonic. If you enjoy staying in a hotel thats decoration resembles dale farm and serves up buffets of pigswill style food that they call jennys carvery then this is for you. But a warning.for those thinking of coming by car beaware that during the day parking charges in nottingham are exhorbitant and hotel has no free parking. but on street parking is free between 18.00 -08.00. do yourself a favour and stay at travelodge nottingham marina http://www.travelodge.co.uk far superior hotel.

Just to report back - stayed at the Aberdeen Britannia Hotel on Saturday night. Got a twin room with 2 double beds and ensuite bathroom, 3 course meal for 2, which included pepper steak for £38 including their £2 card charge.

Still alive to tell the tale and it's a good tale. Great hotel, BRILLIANT price.
warning to anyone thinking about the britannia in stockport, it got voted the worst hotel in britain (on more than one occasion aswell im sure)
for £12 though you cant really complain, nice find op, voted hot.
stayed in the docklands one which is not on this list and it was pretty good overall, at first the heater failed to work and the jacuzzi also was not working, we complained and were upgraded to a suite free of charge and then the heater failed to work there as well so they offered free breakfast for two and gave an electric heater as we loved the room and the view....therefore overall not bad experience as we got full buffet breakfast and a suite for the price of a double at £89
Thanks for all the great reviews, I look forward to catching ringworm, dipheria, cholerea, etc. nowoO

£3 per hour parking in London = £72.00 per day! ! ! not such a cheap stay..
Suffered at the Grand Scarborough too, paid to eat out rather than have our inclusive meals. Horribla place.
What a decline though, I know nothing about Scarborough but I bet that was one special place to stay in, years ago. I have stayed at the Adelphi - the rudest staff I have ever experienced (and I used to stay in 2-3 hotels a week) but in a Fawlty Towers way, it was so bad it was almost good!
I'd sooner pay £29 to sleep in my own car to be honest. And I'd happily pay another £29 if they didn't make me eat the breakfast. There is no price at which this "deal" would be worth it. Awful.

sounds good to me, worth a try at this price.
Cold votes a little unfair! I have family who have stayed at several of the Britannia hotels and whilst not 4 star they still rate them clean and the food good. This is the rate for a superior room which have all been refurbished and the food and wine alone would cost more than this! Hot deal from me!!!
I live in Clitheroe, I'll be expecting a horde of Hotukdeal members visiting now!

I am trying to decide if the Britannia Stockport is the worst or the second worst hotel I have ever stayed in. In any event if they were paying me £55 per night to stay there I would be in two minds as whether to take them up or not

totally agree...i booked the stockport one over the internet last year..i went to check in and i was horrified at the smell, graffiti on the wall and the general room condition...i went immediately to reception and cancelled the booking and left....i will never use Britannia hotel again even if they pay me

Astonishingly bad hotels. Suitable only for a stag party who will be too drunk to notice the state of the place or the quality of the food.
I'd recommend the Adelphi in Liverpool to anyone.

Anyone who is a fan of Fawlty Towers that is. The staff are so rude they should market it as a theme hotel. So rude you can only admire it.

I used to work down in Folkestone - earlier this year on a contract.
Stayed at this place. Never again.
Avoid like the plague. It's a sh#t hole.
Rooms are dirty, locks on the rooms are dodgy at best.
Not all the rooms have a shower, they still have "smoking" rooms.
Basically, the place caters for the coach companies that do the the ferry trips to France. The hotel is used at the overnight stop-off.
It's vile. The place is like something out of the 1970s.

They would have to pay me to stay there!! Native tongue is distinctly foreign, but at least you can help unload the immigrants off the lorries at the ferry terminal to brighten the stay!!

Thats just reminded me of a time I saw 5 immigrants jumping out of the back of a lorry in the middle of no where, a country lane between Hythe & Canterbury, I phoned the police & was asked " How do you know they were immigrants"

The bar includes:
Fosters, Strongbow, House Vodka, House Red/White Wine, House Whiskey, House Gin.
I think that was about it. We got through over 25 drinks in an hour.
There wasn't really a big queue, so unsprisingly I'm going back.

Although it does say only one drink at a time, we were able to order 6 drinks each without a problem.

I stayed at a Britannia hotel in Scarborough. It was awful!
I have stayed at 4 Britannia's. 3 being fine and 1 shocking.

The best one is the Norbreck Castle in Blackpool

But if you are expecting a first class hotel then these are not for you

If you have kids and want a decent hotel, nice rooms, plenty to do at them and decent food then they are fine.
Britannia is a byword for all that is wrong with hotels. Enjoy all the negative reviews on Tripadvisor.

Frankly, most landfills are cleaner.
