Hi All,

I was looking for a child car seat for by newborn son, I went to Halfords & Mothercare to see what they had that would fit my Saab 900. As the Concord Ultimax that my partner has in her car wouldn't fit in my car.

The Britax First Class Si fitted my Saab a treat, its onsale in Halfords & Mothercare for £129, I asked them for a better price & they said thats the best they can do.

Well Kiddicare.com has them in their sale, reduced from £129 to £69!! With FREE Delivery

You can get 2 different styles & there is over 300 in stock. You can get 4% through quidco as well.

Don't just buy off the internet though! Go to a store & get them to fit one in your car first, watch how they do it & check it fits properly. Then say you will have to think about it & buy online! I hope this helps all parents as saving £60 on something which is a compulsary buy when having kids.

Cheers Rawy

Excellent seat and top price. I paid £85 for one of these and thought I got a good deal!

I also paid £85 for this on a Halfords deal about a year ago - great seats. Read around on the reviews for them - there's a couple of very reassuring ones which say how they've had crashes, the car's been a write-off and their babies been snug and safe in their Si.

Excellent seat the 1st class, when it fits, it fits like a glove. Bargain price too! hot!

Does anyone know if this will fit in a VW Golf?

Thats a few comments saying "if it will fit" :?

The Britax website has a fitfinder where you put what kind of car you have and it tells you if it fits your car.

Britax fitfinder link

Also I think its fine to look in shops and buy online but getting them to actually take it to your car and fit it before buying elsewhere is out of order in my opinion.

I've got four of these and they are easy to fit although I would only buy one if you intend to use it rear facing. If your child is old enough and you want it to face forward buy the Maxi Cosi Tobi as it is easy to put even a struggling kid in and got the best safety scores on the Which test.

You may have to registar but it tells you what seats are compatable with yer car.

FYI Car seats are usually cheaper in-store at Kiddicare than online, if you live anywhere near Peterborough! Also, if you can find the same car seat in the same material in Toys r Us, they will price match it for you. (Good if you have any money off vouchers for Toys r Us as you can use there to get even more money off it too.)

:) a great seat.

The only thing to watch out for with this fit finder, is that it only lists cars they have tested it on. If your car is not listed it doesn't mean it won't fit - it may mean they haven't tried it on that car.....

In these instances go to Mothercare and try the seat - if it fits then buy from Mothercare or Kiddiecare.

Good price, got one from Kiddicare instore about 16 months ago and was £110 which was a good price then.

Note it can be put in your car 2 ways, handy if you have trouble finding a seat that fits because of buckle crunch which we did in our old Vectra B it was the only seat that fitted and we tried loads.

As mentioned above it may be cheaper instore, at weekends they unbox the stock to fill the diaplay stands and sell them a bit cheaper

Looking to get one of these, think these are cheap as they've got new colours out now. Both the £70ish ones are blue, no good for my baby girl.

That reminds me, ours is black/red and has loads of padding and very comfy , the older ones at Kiddicare didnt have much padding and were a bit uncomfortable thats why we went for the red one , not sure if the reduced ones are the older stock and the ones with less padding.

Not as good as maxi cosy... doesn't a car seat for your newborn come with your travel system? Much handier as they can be easily carried around in and out of the car and place into their buggy instead of being strapped in and out all the time. They don't get interrupted while they sleep this way.
#16
yeah our travel system came with one but it's only any good upto a year really, I need something now for the next stage as shes 7 months already and growing quickly!

I can't get that site to work (it keeps moanign about cookie whatever I seem to change my security settings to in IE or mozilla) can anyone check to see if 1998 clio's are listed on there & year 2000 rover 25's?

Thanks,
worto.

You can only use a maxi cosy for a few months, this is ideally for the next stage

for those that leave in Peterborough I.E near the shop they will match the online price instore and you also benift from the seat fitting also.
#19
Bit lame that you have to register with them in order to see if their product is suitable for your car. They are just harvesting email addresses for marketing purposes.
#20
Didn't perform too well in in the which? tests. Only managed a score of 52% with concerns over safety in frontal crashes.

Highest score for a seat in the same group 1 category was 75% for the Maxi Cosi Priorifix. Followed by the Britax Duo Plus with 70%

Bought the Britax Evolva 123 ULTRA - Chester (9mths-11yrs) from Kiddiecare last week, excellent for my 9 month girl. Worth the extra bit to last that bit longer. It is a bit like a transformer :-) bits change shape, others come off, etc to change as the child grows.

Colour isn't as glaring as the picture suggests.

And as far as I can tell it will fit any car with a 3-point belt (i.e 99.99999999% :-) ) so don't understand the need for a "checker".

That looks like a much better option - does it easily transfer between 2 cars & does anyone know how it did in safety tests?

Cheers,

Yeah but you can get a decent maxi cosy for under 9 months to 4 after the travel system one.

When I got ours fitfinder said it was fine facing forward in our 2000 clio but wasn't recommended for facing backwards due to shallow depth of rear seat I think.

Like I said in an earlier post if you're getting it as a forward facing seat there are a lot better options out there, both in terms of safety rating and user friendliness .
