Mother & Baby don't test for safety though. Had a car seat which also had won a "Mother & Baby award" but when Which tested it they thought it was so dangerous that it should be withdrawn from the market.........
Which do some really rigorous testing of the seats - watch the video on this page to get an idea how they test them....

Which isn't the most reliable when it comes to review, reading some of the questions they pose on test are just ridiculous.

Most people would benefit from reading user reviews from various site.

You wouldn't catch me putting my son in a seat like this, talk about a potential death trap! No thanks, and voting cold because cheap tat does not equal a hot deal.

It's non-isofix, it gets poor ratings from Which's SAFETY testing and it's RRP is under £60, ergo, it is cheap tat.

Do the math people, your child can use this seat for 8 years, so spend a bit of cash and buy something that will protect them!!!!!

The rrp is £60 and every review you can access on the web all give high rating from the AA to zoom

Just because its on clearance don't mean its crap pm me your access code for which magazine and i have a look myself at this one and only negative review were they say its a death trap as you say it is, because if its a death trap as you claim it is why would they have it on the market for 5+ yrs and all other reviews give it top ratings?

!

how many of these seats have isofix not many, the weight of the child and the seat belts keep the child in place the seat lifts the child up and puts the belt in the correct position. no child would be in this type of seat for 8 years unless the base come off which on older models it certainly doesnt so check first as there is no way an 11yr old would be able to sit with the back adjusted to the right height. We have one of these thats a few years old and our kids dont find it as comfortable as other makes.

The only reviews which assess the safety of the seat are the Which? reviews. Unfortunately this is only 60% of the rating, the rest is comfort based. The argos/motherandbaby assess the look/comfort/fitting of the seat. I don't see any reports from parents who have had experience of a crash situation in these reviews

I'm prmarily concerned with how this thing performs when its in a crash - everything else is secondary

Around 2003/2004 the AA used to have great child seat reviews covering performance in side/front impact etc which I based my purchase of my first childs seats upon but sadly I have not been able to find any further reports of more recent seats.
