I work in halfords and fit child seats, this is a great seat! absolute bargain at that price!
#4
I have this car seat. It's very easy to move between cars. Straps are not as good as some (e.g Maxi Tobi but that costs more) but you can't go wrong at this price - great value.......
#5
Thanks - just what we needed -

Maxi Cosi are a pain, no offense, we have twins 2 car seats Maxi Cosi in my husband's car and 2 Britax ones identical to this car seat in mine, believe me Britax are a LOT easier to use, a LOT, if you have to strap 2 children each time.

i believe maxi cosy are best after having both - each to their own!

All very well saying its a good seat and your going to buy one, but how do you know that it fits your car correctly? I would rather go to halfords or Mothercare and have a seat fitted properly and pay an extra £20. Can't put price on a life :)

You can visit http://www.britax.co.uk/index.php?Itemid=62&home=1&option=com_fitfinder to see if it fits and as it's Argos you have 16 days to return it if you have problems.

thanks ordered one for granddaughter

HOT! It's £140 at Tesco and £125 at Halfords still...

Can anyone tell me if the Britax site doesn't put it forward as a suggestion when you input what car you have does that mean it won't fit at all or just that the other ones are a better fit? Would like one for the occasions when I have my niece in the car to save her Mum dragging the seat around.

Thanks

I went to mothercare to get a seat tested/fitted once and they were rubbish. The seat was wobbling about all over the place but she said it was alright if it moved forward, just not backwards WTF! In the end I went to a specialised nursery shop for the first carseat and since then I rang the In Car Safety Centre in Milton Keynes who referred me to the Britax website as mentioned above for the next one.

Nice one!
Ordered.

IMPORTANT - READ THIS BEFORE BUYING !!

I just checked the Britax Fit-Finder on their website and this car seat does NOT fit my car ....... BMW 5 series.

I would have thought it would be a fairly generic fit but obviously not ! :?

I suggest checking the Fit-Finder before buying this !

Fit-Finder is on the right hand side of page !

It doesn't even fit in my wifes super common Mk3 Mondeo .........the only one it fits is the NEW Mk4.....greater than 2007 !! :?

Warning to Ford drivers. I used to fit car seats for Mothercare and a little known fact is Ford have slippery seat belts and can cause the seatbelt tensioner to work loose on most Britax seats. I bought one of these from John Lewis, the nice man came and fitted it in my car. (hey it gave him something to do and made him feel like he was doing his job properly) All was good for a few days. with leaning over u slightly move the seat each time and after a week or so u can have a loose carseat on your hands. Check the Britax site and if in doubt they have a very good net team u can mail and they get back to u very quickly.
Car seat is very good price.
I used this seat in a 2000 Mondeo and a 2008 Focus both with the same problem. It was only after contacting Britax they flagged up the seatbelt issue.

I guess its down to personal experience. We only have the one little darling but use both the Britxa STS and the Maxi Cosi Tobi. We use the Tobi in our car (Mondeo) and the STS in the grandparents car so my comments reflect my own personal experience.
I think ;
Maxi Cosi Tobi - better fitting , easier to use straps
Britix STS - ok fitting but much easier to move between cars though than the Tob), straps are ok but not as easy to use as the ones in the Tobi

Thanks for the tip, managed to find one and i also had a £5 argos internet voucher, got it for £45.99 - bargin:thumbsup:

Completely agree, our personal preference that Maxi Cosy model Harry is definitely more steady and well built (no crticism as for safety and quality), but straps are a PAIN! My in-laws struggled to fasten them every time. Model Tobi, however does look better.

Did you get rid of the seat and if so what make seat did you replace it with? I have an 08 Focus and have the Britax Rock-A-Tot, I haven't noticed it working loose but I do take it out each time it is used, you have got me worried now! :?

I have one reserved at Shrewsbury Meole Brace, but have just found that it will not fit either of our cars, so if anyone would like the reservation number, let me know.

Rock-a-tots are fine. I did get rid of seat but I bought one from my sister and it was another Britax but it is the Renaisance and has a seat tensioner. A foot litterally locks it in place in the seat. I was recently at a Fire fighters event and they were checking car seats for saftey. They laughed as it took 2 of them to pull hard enough to move it less than an inch. The only place I know of that still sells these is kiddiecare but as you have an 08 you would be best buying a Isofix carseat for your next one. Loads safer and a lot less hassle. Isofix are more expensive but are really worth the money. Unfortunately i don't have isofix on my car. The focus it goes in is my parents but that is due to change in a few months.
As you remove your seat each time you won't have a problem, it is mainly the static car seats.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately my car hasn't got the ISOfix mounting points fitted so I will have to stick with a seatbelt secured seat.

Oh thats wierd as ISOFIX is the standard on most new cars. My dads Focus has them.
Hope you get a good seat.

You have to specify it when you order the car, it's a £0 option. Unfortunately the car I bought didn't have the ISOfix fitted because it was already in the dealers stock but I got such a good deal it was too good to turn down. My girlfriend didn't think it was though!
