mothercare have the britax max fix 2 for £137 (usually £275) through their sale preview.

If you are interested in extended rear facing seats you will know this is a great price. Keeps your child safely rear facing from birth up to age 4 /18kg.

I think you need a sale preview email from mothercare though, it won't show up on the website at this price without it

*edit 24/12/14 price now down from £140 to £137 and sale is live to everyone*

Excellent. Glad these are starting to be sold in the UK. My daughter is nearly 6 and still rear facing.
Had to pay nearly £300 for each seat!

Agreed! Our other ERF seat was £340 :-O

Does anyone have the link to get it at this price? X

Commentthat seat is forward facing, the max fix is an extended rear facing seat which keeps your child rear facing til age 4. Rear facing is five times safer in a frontal collision

Just ordered two of these, one for my 11 month old and another for the impending arrival in 2015. Thanks op and merry christmas!

Heat added!
#19
Ordered, thank you, needed another seat for second car and wanted extended rear facing so this is perfect, great price.
#20
cheers op, thanks for the heads up, ordered one.
#21
do you need an iso base for it ?

Can it be belted?
#23
Glad to help! They are such expensive things usually.

No isofix base needed- the fittings are built in.

As far as I know it's isofix only
#24
Very good deal. I just ordered 2.

Its not 'isize' but meets current 'r44' regulations.

Our other car seat is a maxi coat 2 way pearl which was £350 which conforms to new I size regs. It scored 75% in which tests. This £180 seat from Britax scored 72% and just missed the best buy. it was still recommended as a very good seat.

Make sure the one that arrives has the new belts. Search on Google for the issue relating to the materials used on the original belts. Britax say all new seats will have new belts, but also offer free replacements.

The MaxFix passes the Swedish Plus test which is the only one that tests neck loads - only a handful of seats pass this test and any seat that can also forward face cannot pass.
'Which?' test results are worth looking into, but as a high percentage of the test is based on 'consumer friendliness' they won't provide a true result if you're looking for the safest seat.
It's worth bearing in mind that 'Which?' testing marks down seats that they class as 'difficult' to fit - i.e. might require more than a few brain cells and five minutes of your time!

Absolutely. I tend to just look at the breakdown and not the overall %age.

Thing is I know a few people who have good jobs, are intelligent, and have fitted their own child's care seats very badly.

the forces involved in a rear end collision are likely to be much less than a front end, head on collision for example

They are also refunding me £10 as I couldn't use the £10 off app voucher yesterday, and yes I went through quidco too so even better :-)

What is isize please? Thanks
#35
I think it's now sold out

What is isize please? Thanks

See here: http://www.i-size.org.uk/

Essentially, it is a new standard for car seats. At the moment, the older standard (R44) is still valid, so you can currently buy car seats which are isize compliant or R44 compliant.

Have you got yours yet? My order just says 'processing', and no delivery date.

same here! still processing x

Hey, has anyone received theirs yet?

I ordered 2 on 24th December 2014 10:38:24. I phoned Mothercare yesterday to get an update on the order and I've just had an email back saying "your order is in the process of being cancelled by supplier due to stock availability".

There is no way they were sold out when I placed my order, unless they were taking orders for items for which they had no stock. That would be seriously bad practice.

Not got mine yet. I've emailed them to chase it.

I ordered mine at around 11pm on the 23 December. Like you, I don't think there is any way it could have been sold out.

It's still on their website for £275 for home delivery.
