This is hot. I booked flights a couple of weeks ago with STA travel on Student rates.

Checked out the exact flights on BA.com today and it comes to exactly the same price for just standard economy.

Hot deal!

Anyone know when BA have a sale for flights to new york in November?

Nice - I will be upgrading to Business Class for a change!

LONDON--24 DECEMBER, 2008--British Airways has just released
a massive end-of-year flight sale, with prices starting from
as little as £45 (one-way) to Europe, and from just £259
(return) to the US.

When we checked, these were the best deals on offer:

Europe (one-way inc tax)
-London Gatwick to Pisa, was £56 ... £45
-London Heathrow to Rome (Fiumicino), was £76 ... £55
-London Heathrow to Istanbul (Ataturk), was £108 ... £79

International (return inc tax)
-London Heathrow to New York (Newark/JFK), was £337 ... £259
-London Heathrow to Miami (Int'l), was £345 ... £309
-London Heathrow to San Francisco (Int'l), was £401 ... £339
-London Heathrow to Toronto (Pearson Int'l), was £379 ... £339
-London Heathrow to Cairo, was £336 ... £286
-London Heathrow to Beijing (Int'l), was £547 ... £439

We found great availability at these prices, but be quick to
book as the lowest-priced seats will sell out fast. Sale
ends 27 January, 2009.

Is it just me who finds the deals to America, India and the Far East a bit poor?

Voted cold for this... Europe is ok but nothing special.
#6
From my experience, £259 to New York is pretty good, considering with Virgin you pay £183 in Surcharges and Taxes. I am sure BA's are similar ;-)
#7
Can I suggest registering your details with BA and when you log in you get an additional £20 off long haul which makes New York £239. Tokyo is only £480 for Gods sake! Very hot deal. Although no bout some halfwit will pop up with the oligatory T5 winge!
#8
I agree that the US flights dont seem to be a great deal.

For example NYC was £259 earlier this year and last Jan they were as cheap as £229 on BA.

2006 they were £199 and the fuel charge was higher then. (I remember as i nearly booked them)

So this is no better deal than usual for some routes.

However, European routes seem cheap but check other airlines for their sales after Xmas.
For example Aer Lingus have launched cheap flights to major European cities from Gatwick.
And i am sure BMI will follow come boxing day.

I think these are great prices £290 for Chicago in May/june it was dearer than that 10 years ago!
#10
I've been keeping an eye on flights to Denver for a few months now as I'm going skiing there for a couple of weeks in Feb/March. This deal has brought down those costs considerably and I've booked 3 flights today.

Good deal (at least for the flights I was after!).
#11
went a couple of weeks ago to the states and t5 is excellent

as someone said i am sure someone will have a winge about it and the prices but unless they are flying for free some people are never happy, its plane worth millions of pounds for god sake so your obviously gonna have to pay a bit for the journey

might be tempted to have a cheapo holiday new year at these prices, shoping in new york yeah!
#12
Virgin have New York for £258 (JFK and Newark) book until Jan 10th.

Don't think you'll get a cheap shopping holiday in the States on this! There's very little bargains to be had when prices are effectively 30% higher this year due to the poor pound.

My brother lives in New York and I usually get him to bring me stuff home. This year it's pointless as I'd only be saving a couple of quid on most expensive items!
#13
Can I ask why the picture is for "gbairways.com", which was sold to Easyjet by BA ages ago?
#14
You will find the same prices at virgin to the same places, much better service imo

Always check price comparison sites such as http://www.kayak.co.uk/ before buying any air tickets.
#16
sad but true virgin are as cheap with 3% quidco

Ok show me where I can fly with Virgin direct to Denver. Please don't generalise, it's misleading. Virgin fly to SOME of the same places.

As above it depends where you're going. I needed 3 direct flights to Denver, this deal delivered that at a very good price. Virgin don't fly there.
#18
Can you tell me how you got return flights to Denver in Feb for £250. I have looked at every date and the cheapest it seems for one way is £165.
#19
virgin = chav city

flew with them to antigua last year, never again!

flown quite a lot with my job and although ba isnt always perfect, i find most of the time the crew are more professional and manage to get better flights

still, going to vegas next year on a stag do so hopefully ba will start uo direct flights or its chav city again!!!

I realised my error so edited that out earlier. I meant to type £350 which is what the flights I booked today cost me. I'm sorry for the confusion.

I've registered but I can't see the extra £20 off? I'm getting Tokyo for £499 in February. Still a good deal but I'd like the extra 20 quid off!

Hmmmm Prices looked good at first - Heathrow to Detroit £329 (change at Chicago) but then they added Surcharges etc of £240 per person making £569 per person - and for this I would have to drive to, and park at, Heathrow.

Continental from Manchester (Via Newark) is £511 per person

So I agree, some of the prices are not that spectacular - though I appreciate the posting, just in case there was a bargain to be found for my journey

I did exactly that in november and booked them. They are now £52 cheaper.
I wonder if they'll refund the difference ?:-D

Yup - also check other airlines. BA as usual aren't upfront about their deals. Checked mine for Washington - £150 going out £1008 coming back !!!!! some deal. Me thinks Virgin gives a better deal on my route - so this is cold cold for me.

lol ok its just most of the MP's go to islamabad then take a donkey from there LOL

I find the BA site better than most to find the deals and the fares adverstised do include taxes etc. If you are reasonably flexible about when you are are going and the prices are similar to this time last year, so if you are planning a flight in the first half of the year this is hot... (and FWIW I'd prefer to fly BA to Virgin especially on touristy type routes)... Still not a patch on the Delta/Airfrance deals early in the year (NYC for £150/LAX for £200) or the Expedia deal which saw the BA sale prices applied across the year including summer holidays (Fingers crossed for some repeats next year)

Is it miss leading to say it's a sale when other airlines have more or less the same prices?so is it a sale or were BA just robbing people in the first place? So if they are on sale would it not be fair to say SOME places are are on sale cheap or should we just GENERALISE?:whistling:

Also, I checked dates in June, and the BA Sale price appeared for a European flight, although in the T&C it says 'Valid to 28 March' - so worth checking other dates just in case.
