Pretty sure this is the OWL CM119, just re-branded as British Gas so is cheaper!

Some think these are pointless, some don't... I just bought one because i'm interested in the amount of power being used by various things.

Thought this was a good price if you are in the market for one!

These are great. I got one and thought it would take maybe a year or so to recoup the costs of the device itself through the energy savings that I made. To my surprise, after seeing how much energy I was using and turning off devices rather than leaving them in standby, my electricity bill dropped by almost a third in the next quarter - and I've just got my latest bill in a few days ago, and its in line with the savings made on the previous one. I've recouped over twice the cost of the Owl monitor - well chuffed. Wireless models are great because you can take them around the house with you as you test various devices. Inevitably there will be that initial period when you first get the device that you'll be almost obsessive compulsive over the readings and testing things out - but give it a couple of weeks and hopefully it'll become an integral tool.

Of course, the device in itself will not save you any energy, but if you're motivated enough (and you should be if you're thinking of buying one in the first place) it can be a real eye-opener and help you to change your attitude to energy use within the home. Gets a thumbs up from me.

i just got a free wireless monitor to-day from british gas as i am on dual fuel and signed up to the new energy smart scheme (u provide online readings once a month and get billed only for what u use).

this monitor attaches to the main cable at mains box and gives total usage in real time, working well (will get a shock in the morning with showers!!!).

got one of these, its amazing how much it cost to boil the kettle. Really shows you the savings you can make by turning everything off standby mode.

Got one of these and useful to identify the electric hogs in the house. The novelty does wear off in about 3 days and since then I've unplugged it and it's somewhere in a bottom drawer.

Every home should have one. Reduced my elec use by a third, the fancy lights using halogens are never on now;-) just the boring energy savers. New white goods have made a big difference too. Washer dryer and fridge freezer broke down in Nov/Dec bummer.

Since we all know turning things off will save energy and kettles consume a lot of electricity as do electric showers then you already know how to save money.

Just don't buy one of these devices and turn things off or use them for shorter periods and you will save at least £22.50

you dont get it!

yes we all know how to turn things off. the point is that this is a big pointer into what is consuming what and reminds you to turn everything not in use off.

saved me loads

and they are free from BG anyway!
