Let the beef come to room temperature. 30 mins or so. Season steak with salt/pepper

Heat a skillet/griddle pan to it's highest heat using a touch of groundnut oil (doesn't tarnish the flavour).

Add the steak to the (mad hot) griddle pan for between 3-5/6 minutes depending on how you like it, rare/medium/welldone, turn over, cook for 1 minute, reduce the heat then cook for the same amount of time you did for the other side. Never turn your steak more than once. Remove and cover with foil for 5 minutes to let meat rest and tenderise. Serve with whatever you like.

Hope this helps!

Sound advice, especially letting the meat come to room temperature ;)

Any idea when they might be having another offer on the braising steak? That was a great offer!

Good deal, I got the Sirloins about 2-3 weeks back. Hard to beat for the price... I would also add to cooking tips... Pat dry first, coat with Olive Oil, then some Schwartz Steak seasoning, Salt Pepper. Add some butter to pan to help glaze it. Yummy.

The Morrisons rump is fantastic. Make sure you look around for bits without much sinue in. I picked up at 30oz rump for about £4.50 yesterday and it was fantastic. Really tender and tasty. Yummy. I split it into 4 portions ready for a couple of meals this week.

Got to try out these tips, hopefully my OH will have some decent steak to eat for a change!!

The piece I got yesterday was 0.674 kg. Cut mine in half but I suppose you could have it all to yourself!

A butcher once showed me how to cook steak, but first he stood the side with the fat on in the hot pan/griddle for a few minutes to crisp the fat. Using the oil given off by the fat he then cooked the steak in it. He cooked the first side for quite a few minutes then for a short time on the other side. He said only turn the steak once and not to prod it whilst cooking.
I'm fussy about steak and out of all the supermarkets, Morrison's steak is the best.
