If you can put your insecurities aside for long enough to watch this film, you'll discover why it won 3 Oscars.

good film. I watched it as a joke. Ended up being messed up. I was silent for days after watching it. No emotion. JUST SILENT. what a sad beech of a movie....

when someone mentions liking this film others imply you have to be a bit gay to watch it.
does it follow that anyone who watches babe is into bestiality? - or someone who watches a film with kids in is like michael jackson ?

Wow, that’s the most absurd reasoning I've ever read.

This film is about homosexuality and there are scenes of a sexual nature. ‘Babe’ has no sexual connotations whatsoever (any love James Cromwell’s character has for that pig is unphysical), and most films with kids are cleaner than James Dyson's carpet ... except for the film 'Kids', which was very heavy on sexual content, although I’d argue that those kids were a bit too old for Michael! :whistling:

p.s. I don’t think everyone who watches this film is gay or has gay tendencies.

p.p.s. brokeback mountain 2 looks amazing... if anyone can make it pervy it's Howard Stern!

Utter nonsense!
The film is not about homosexuality it's about the denial of true love!
The fact that the two people in love are of the same sex is fairly e relevant!
Had the main characters been heterosexual it would have been just as powerful and poignant imho.

Fantastic film that EVERYONE should see, irrespective of your sexuality!!

Good to see the same tired old schoolboy jokes get reeled out again.....

Some predictable replies in this thread sadly.

It's a great film, and well deserved the awards it got. Recommended. :)

I agree that people should see this film and I think that it is very heartwarming. I have gay friends who are male/female but we won't go into that.

Sorry to sound like I'm picking, but it is about homosexuality. It's also about the denial of true love. The story is about the denial of homosexual true love and the adverse reactions that they receive in the film.

I feel that the fact they are of the same sex is relevant to the film, as it is relevant to the script and without spoiling the story for those who may not have seen it the film would have panned out differently if the couple were male/female.

John Wayne may have seen allot of his own life in this film if all the rumours are to be believed .... good film.

That's a bit like saying The Exorcist is not about demonic possession

im afraid you're talking utter nonsense.

it is about homosexuality as much as it is about the denial of true love, as some people have pointed out and as just about every synopsis of the film reveals.

I don't really know what to say about your second statement because I dont know if you're saying its relevant, and the 'e' is a typo, or if you just dont know how to spell irrelevant.

Furthermore, had it just been a male/female love story... it would have been a completely different film, applealing to a completely different audience, stuck in a massively overpopulated genre and would probably struggle to reach anything near the popularity of a range of films like 'Romeo & Juliet', 'Lolita' and 'The Notebook' (or even my personal favourite, 'Say Anything'). Instead, it's only gotta match up to a few other well received films like 'My Beautiful Laundrette' (which i've seen, btw).
