Probably the 'best' saddle in the world

Notice they've bumped the price up £10 for the aged tan. Black still £49.99

Great saddles

I got a Carlton racing bike for my 12th birthday in 1970 which had a Brooks saddle and I am still using the same saddle now, on a different bike thouigh.

Give it a squirt of leather polish / feed every once in a while and it gets better with age.

can someone explain the qualities of this saddle?

great saddle that gets better with use, more for touring than racing.
Also people swap these from bike to bike. Lasts for years and shape to your *ss in time

I have 2 modern bikes with state of the art saddles, and a 20 year old tourer with one of these Brooks saddles. I probably ride the old tourer more often than either of the others. There are 2 reasons for this; firstly because I'm not so paranoid about leaving the old bike and secondly because the Brooks is so damned comfortable. Don't get me wrong, like a good pair of shoes these take some wearing in, but after softening up a bit and molding to your body shape, they are the best. This is a great price for a Brooks B17.

great seat - will take some wearing in (200-250+ miles) but well worth the effort.

if looked after should last a very long time :)

I'm sure people are right in saying these are really comfy, but it wont really be appropriate for the lycra boys on their slink road bikes, either aesthetically, or weight-wise. but it is a visual time-warp which I love :)

I have this saddle on my hybrid bike but I WILL be putting it on to my road bike when I do Lands end to John O'Groats in October, I have only got about 500 miles on the Saddle the now but it still isn't fully broken in yet.

Heat for the deal as I paid more for it.

Went on Lands End to John o Groates in 2010 as a support driver to the team of cyclist, the one had a Brooks saddle and to be fair he never once complained about saddle soarness, on the other hand one of the lads had a Selle italia and he was very uncomfortable so much so you could see the sudocrem seeping through his shorts!!!

Good Luck with the ride!

i like to saddle my mother at the weekend , will this saddle be as good?

Am damn it, bought a new one for another one of my bikes just the other week for £60. Great price for an awesome saddle. Proper leather, that will be more comfortable in the long run, and last longer if you look after it properly.

I have the Brooks Swift Titanium Saddle which is fantastic but I believe this is also a classic at a great price. Done Lands End - John O'Groats each way, coast to coast, Alps 2 years ago and beaches of Normandy last year and saddle just gets better with age!

Looks second hand, might be worth a sniff

My current saddle slowly tears through my jeans (always in the same place)...i'm not sure why..Maybe a leather saddle that wears in will prevent this?
#20
Worth noting there are other Brooks saddles available on the same site.

Particularly this, the Brooks Pro Titanium for £49.95. The picture and description don't match up with the description on the Brooks website though.

Huh? What do you mean?

Nice, have one of these on my commuter and a Brooks Swallow on the tourer.
It's pricey sure but it'll last a decade and it's quality.
#27
Probably get stolen by the time its worn in ...(_;)

Don't think this saddle is intended for a £50 full sus Sports Direct bike shaped object. If you want a good saddle that'll last 10x longer than a £50 bike then this is one to consider

SUPERB QUALITY - Highly recommended, a saddle for life if you look after it. And made in the UK too.

Have some heat.
#31
saw these being made on "how its made" so a it of a celeb saddle. Well worth the price !
#32
Awesome saddles .. better than any other I have ever used. They mold to your backside and are wonderful. I used my Brooks Professional for years and swapped it onto my new bikes.
#33
I have this saddle (black one) and it's fantastic, not fully worn in yet but so much better than the other saddles I've used, I'm not in pain after a ride. Cost more than the bike though, I'm using it on an ancient Raleigh Pioneer I bought for £10!! Probably reduces the risk of theft though...the bike would be easier to replace cheaply than the saddle would!

Nice to see some cycling gear here. Very tempted as I am suffering from some saddle soreness right now after just a 50 miles today. Hmm, do these really prevent your **** from hurting?
#35
Nice seat, butt alot of buck for your ass
#36
These are real saddles, the more work you put in the better they get!

A one hundred year old design, hand made, and still going strong - has to be a message in there somewhere!

Conventional wisdom is that it takes a while for your rear end to be 'broken in' (rather than the other way round!) very tempted to go for this deal, although would prefer one of the sprung models

BTW also available in black for the same price http://www.thebikefactory.co.uk/productdetails.asp?productid=05016

Note that the 'S' models are for skirts, and specifically intended for women, although may also be more suitable for anyone riding in a kilt?

Great find.
Been looking to get a Brooks Team Classic for my racer. Had a chat with a couple of guys and there are some good shortcuts to speeding up the bedding in including lightly sanding the top of the leather, riding it with a chamois on top for a few rides, moisture aids reshaping, then reapply leather polish and protector to seal.
There handmade in Birmingham and everyone I've spoken to about them raves about them for comfort and longevity, good value when you think a Pro synthetic saddle is anywhere from £70 upwards.

I could seriously do with one of these. My current saddle is that uncomfortable I probably wouldn't notice the difference if I just took it off and sat on the post itself.:|
