an absolute bargain! I bought the HL-2030 six months ago and have cut my ink costs by 95%.

then again, I did have a lexmark lol

this apparently, can print up to 3,000 pages per cartridge so works out around 1p per A4 sheet. My lexmark worked out about 10p per sheet. Saves on papaer too as the manual duplex is very quick & easy to do. I always use both sides now.

it does indeed start up from scratch and print within 10 seconds and I get about 20-25 pages per minute when I did a test.

I also bought a brother laser printer approx 3 years ago when I worked in Dixons (got it for £45 then on a managers deal). I think its the hl-2030. Same toner. You can change settings to toner save mode - and the quality is still good. Any money you spend on this printer, you will save on ink!
#3
Now im looking for a laser colour all in one if anybody comes across one!

Hmm.. the only cartridge I can find listed for the HL-2035 is the TN2005, which prints about 1500pages @ 5% coverage.

Average cost for a TN2005 is ~ £35 per cartridge, which translates to 2.3p per page printed.

Are there any other compatible cartridges?

I bought one of these in Staples last week for about £43 and a few pennies. I am VERY pleased with it. A bargain. However I was told that the cartridge was only about 1/3 full and a new cartridge was about the same price as the printer. I haven't bought one yet, but guessed I would be able to source one over the internet cheaper than Staples

GOOD REVIEW

Starter toner gives 1000 pages. Seperate drum kit which is good for 15000 pages.

Yeah, for anyone who hasn't got a Makro card the same printer is available from Staples for £50.08 delivered, + you can get 4% quidco, so that brings the price to £48.38.....£2.39 more than Makro but it's delivered to you.

Just use a toner refill. The only time to worry is when the drum goes.

Here is one that says it is compatible with the HL-2035

No security chips on the toner cartridges, to prevent refilling? Way to go, that does make it a better purchase than a Samsung/Lexmark/HP.

Terms & Conditions say the printer must have been purchased NEW from a Brother authorised UK based retailer. No FleaBay grey imports and the sorts.

This offer is smoking hot now!

Hi,
Just picked one of these printers up today from the local Staples store for £48.08.

Point to note:
The printer does NOT come with a USB cable so make sure you have the correct USB cable to fit the printer or you will be stuck!

This is the type of USB cable you will need:

Yeah, it's excellent print quality.

The only thing I have noticed is that the tabs on the manual paper feed slot are very loose & don't click into place at specified paper sizes...when you try to feed a sheet of A4 into the slot the paper actually moves the tabs resulting in the paper not feeding in as straight as it should, because of this the print image is not square on the page and runs off.

Is it the same on your printer?

Cheers.

bought a refurb 2040 direct from brother for £35 a year and a half ago.

both 2035 & 2040 are at £50 on their website (refurb) now though.

Even at this price it's a bargain, mine has paid for itself and still 65% toner remaining. Top quality print and very speedy.

I agree with this, the front feed is very poor. I resorted to holding the feed guides in place with card placed under them. Otherwise a very good machine and you can even save paper by printing on both sides using the duplex programme but you do have to manually turn the first print stack over and reload the bottom tray. It works out how to print the odd or even numbers for you.

You can get most of these cartridges filled for about half the price of a new one at places like Cartridge World. There are cheaper DIY kits but they are messy, potentially dangerous (toner can go airbound when filling), and generally give poor results. I would'nt recommend them myself!

Good find. I've got a 2030 Brother printer and it is easy to use, cheap and trouble free. Would recommend to anyone.

How can you tell how much toner you have left....I can't recall seeing anything in the printer menu that shows this?

Yeah I have done the same.
Still a great printer for under £50, especially with the 3 year warrantee....you can't go wrong.

i may be mistaken, but am pretty sure(the last time i done it) that if you print a stat sheet/test page it shows on there , unless thats somthing else.

dont wanna hijack the thread, but did either of u have problems with the toner in the HL-2030?

my one seems to constantly think its out of toner even when a fresh one is added, annoys me quite a bit because every single time i need to print i have to take out the damn toner and refresh it :?
