£66.84 is the lowest Amazon price since November 2012 according to Camelcamelcamel.

This is a good value laser printer which is economical to run as it has an auto-duplex function to save paper and brand new compatible cartridges for it are available from a variety of sellers on Ebay for £10.49 delivered.

Cables are not supplied, so you will either need a USB cable to connect it or, better for most, an ethernet cable with which you can plug it into your wireless router so all the devices in your house can share the printer wirelessly.

According to the Brother site the toner drum is good for 12000 pages so total running cost would be-

Printer £66.84
5 compatible cartridges (2600 page yield) @ £10.49 = £52.45

I make that 0.009 per page plus the cost of the paper.

MarkShopper you git you could at least give me some credit for telling you this was cheaper on Amazon. (_;):p

That is from Printerland.

This deal is for the one sold direct by Amazon who have excellent customer service so it is worth paying a bit more.

To anyone that has one, has it been reliable?

I would like to get a 3 year warranty for it but Amazon do not seem to do them any more.

Ebuyer do but the printer is more expensive with them. :(

Had mine a year, used the starter toner and one compatible so far, and it's like new.

First laser printer, is the toner included a full one?

I don't think so and remember seeing some where the one supplied is good for 700 pages.

Haha, you should have posted the deal. I wasn't quite sure that thanking Donald Duck would make much sense to readers. :D

I take it this doesn't have Google print?

have this printer at work for b&w documents - was easy to set up and it's been going strong for a couple of years, survived a change of offices and regularly used by ~15 people :)

Brother DCP-7055W is all in one duplex with scanner

I got it in 2012 when it was this cheap. It has been excellent. Only problem was first compatible cartridge I tried suffered from ghosting. Switched supplier and everything now fine.

This one seems cheaper on ink.

Lexmark- 5000 page toner is £27.00 making it 0.0054p per page

Brother- 2600 page toner is £10.49 making it 0.0040p per page

Very tempted to buy this as a spare. I have another Brother popular printer from 2003, incredible quality, had replaced drum several times. Don't know how many sheets that I had printed, should be at least 10,000 single sides but could be 20,000. As it is a popular printer from that era , drums and toner (all original Brother) could be had very cheaply. I just bought a brand new original drum for it for eBay for £10 delivered which I put into spare!

Can plug your printer to a print adapter that has whatever connection that you need that has an ethernet out. Then plug this ethernet cable to your router, switch. Some router has USB input and print server function. I use an old model HP Jetdirect, brand new on eBAY, very cheap , bought many years' ago that has a parallel printer port as input.

This is a network printer so you can plug it into your wifi router and print wireless.

I take it this doesn't have Google print?

All (as far as I am aware) printers which are networked can be printed to.
See:

http://www.google.co.uk/cloudprint/learn/apps.html

It may be a bit of struggle with Apple devices, if that is what you want to do, but it does work, using for instance third party aps eg Printcental pro (for about £5)

I need help to make the sensible decision here. Ive been on the lookout for a printer to buy for university in September. I can't decide if this is the deal or would I be better waiting for the back to school offers. :)
