Just about to post this - stunning deal even better than the DCP340 of a few weeks back.

It is certainly looks interesting. Just need to make up my mind on whether I really need fax or should I go for 115C instead.
#4
this looks a great deal  I reserved the Brother DCP130C All in One Photo Printer from Argos for £59.99 now I dont know which to go for.. .

I do want a printer that does decent photos any advice please on which I should go for.
thanks..

Brother are not normally rated highly for their photo abilities. You might want to go for Canon or Epson (RX series for photo multifunctions) but it'll be more expensive than 45 quid.
#6
hanks for your repy, but this looks such a good deal especialy as it also has the fax facility,I have looked at a few reviews so I think I will go for this and keep a look out for a decent photo printer in the future..

you can get replacement inks for this from svp website. £1.39 each. not original brother ones but work fine.

A fan of Brother All in Ones here....had 3-all excellent and very cheap to run. Do everything well but nothing exceptionally so if you want top notch photo printing look elsewhere. They suit me fine though as I only print a couple of dozen photos a year.

Dont forget your Free 3 Yr onsite Warranty offer at:

http://www.brother.co.uk/g3.cfm/s_page/77630

Use code EM0002 to claim.

Or you can have a handheld printer or a 256MB USB Flash drive instread.

Nice deal MikeT.

Recommended to a friend who needs one of these.

Thanks for posting this deal MikeT. I just reserved one at Blackpool :)

Can I assume, as the MFC215C is not listed, that maybe it uses the same carts as the one that IS listed as MFC210 ?

And thanks for this additional info m00nie and kevinyork
#14
yes it does use the same carts. if you look at the pc world's original brother ink lc900 is for 215 and 210 and svp is lc900 compatible.

bought some last week for my mfc410CN.

(dont forget svp is part of the £10 off £30 spend promotion)
#15
Thanks m00nie. I picked mine up at lunch. SVP are out of cyan compats so I joined their email-me-when-they're-in club :)
#16
SVP are always out of Brother inks. I've been watching them for a few weeks and they only ever seem to have one colour in stock.

Ink Emporium have very cheap LC900 carts.

The deal seems good and i've reserved one, one question though how big is it? The warranty offer has expired though i think?

reserved one, but now wondering if i should wait for a wi-fi printer!
#20
Sorry my mistake the offer is still on! This seems a real bargain does anyone have an opinion?
I'm in a similar situation as circuit as i am waiting on a wireless one.

Its cheap for what it is but I am in the same situation I need a wireless one, I had ordered the mfc820cw when it was £74.99 but pc world cancelled the order and now its back upto full price and I suspect they will have stock in tomorrow now the offer has ended.

If you dont mind a refurbished model from brother direct they do the mfc 640cw which is wireless for £69.99 (comes with 12 months warranty)
#22
Thing is do i need a wireless one? i can keep this somewhere if its small enough and just connect it up as and when? What is the photo quality like?

Depends on your needs and printing scanning habits, if you expect to need to do either on a regular basis your probably gonna get fed up of moving it everytime. The size is quite compact for an all in one as for the photo quality brother mfc's tend to get low scores for this if you need quality photos over having all the features in one I'd suggest a dedicated photo printer.

I have one hear sat on my desktop from today, i am no expert on these things but i will list what it can do :

Scanning : scans well but not too photo quality as i expected

Printing: Handles run of the mill stuff, but again photos suffer stripy effect in one way or another :(

I have yet to see a photo printer that can match the labs ;)

Its a good bit of kit overall, and does the job that matches printers twice the price i would expect?

Jack of all master of none springs to mind, still for £45 its none too bad :D

Is there anything better for the money though? Price of replacement carts are cheap and as someone said if you only have to fax once for it to be worthwhile, i have reserved one but am always looking for something better cheaper!!!
But hey isn't everyone!

If this has the features you need you are very unlikely to find anything to match. Lexmark often have cheaper Printer deals but their ink is VERY pricey. The thread on the DCP-115C is for a cheaper but less featured model. If you dont need Fax capabilities then that is a less expensive option but with the same cheap ink.

I can recommend Choice for inks. They are £2.49 each with freepost but are said to print up to 30% more compared to other compatibles.

You've sold it me! I'm going to collect as we speak!

The cheeky ******s tried selling me this:!
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1068188938.1180200177@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccddaddkmlehiddcflgceggdhhmdgml.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=571892&category_oid=

I politely told them that was not the model ordered and they duly brought out the other box.

I'm pleased with it, though just one question. As i am going to be using it with my laptop it aint gonna plugged into the computer all the time. Also i was hoping to disconnect it from the power while not being used can anyone see any harm from doing this? I didn't want the thing going into clean mode after not being plugged in for a while.

Thanks
#30
I've read elsewhere they need to be kept plugged in adn I can say that periodically (every day or so not more often) my DCP340 does whirr a little
for 10 secs and then stops.
#31
My dads printer prints on both sides of the paper is this possible with this one? He's got a HP one. So it'll have to be left plugged in which is a pain.
#32
Well for those who bought this (and yes, it's still on offer at the OP price!) don't forget to register the serial number with Brother. I received my free gift today, thanks to kevinyork's post:)

A handheld thermal printer PT-1000, priced at £39 on the brother website

What a great deal this has been, and the ink carts were full too
