I think you need to amend the title. It is not cider, but perry!

Cider is made from fermenting Apples.
Perry is made from fermenting Pears.
Wine is made from fermenting grapes.

You cannot have pear cider, or apple wine, or grape perry.

The TV ad for this stuff is dreadful, couldn't ever buy it.

It stays because it's the name of the product.

You can have Apple wine, a different type of yeast is normally used for wine, so it wouldn't actually be Pear cider/Perry. It does tase different too (not as sweet for a start, as more of the sugar is turned to alcohol due to the better yeast used), I know this because I've messed fermenting my own beverages for some time using many different fruits.

And there's nothing wrong with calling 'Perry' Pear cider, seeing as the same process can be used for Apple Cider is used for Perry.

There are some arguments that say Perry and Pear cider are different, because Perry is made by fermenting pears, while Pear cider for the most part is actually Apple cider with added Pear concentrate.
But there's no rule saying the names aren't interchangable.

As for Grape perry, I've made Pyment (which is Mead, made with the addition of grape juice), which is pretty close to being Grape perry to be honest (after all, Perry is just Pears and sugar, fermented with Yeast, while pyment is Grapes, honey and water, fermented with Yeast).

Like most pear cider, I assume it's normal apple cider with pear flavouring.
So it actually is pear cider.

Brewed in my home town. Their plant is on the site of the Anglo Bavarian Brewery here in Shepton Mallet, a beautiful old building that was the first place in the UK to brew lager and now split up into lots of busines units..

The company is run by the sons of Francis Showering, the inventor of Babycham.

Interestingly the waste energy from their processes is used to heat the swimming pool water of our little lido which is next door.
