Powerline with passthrough socket is normally well overpriced.

Heat!

This is only av200 as very old stock . Current model is av2000 which is 10 times faster than this old stock.

I don't think it will work in this scenario as these things tend to have problems between electric ring circuits and most UK houses afaik have separate rings between floors.

I have a pair of comtrend 200mbps passthrough adaptors and can feed my 50mb fibre virginmedia broadband from upstairs bedroom to downstairs living room (different circuits). When I test the broadband connection at the other end I get between 50-54mbps. If you have a 70-100mb broadband connection I would go for the powerline adaptors with 1200mbps branding. 150 to certainly the 200mb virginmedia fibre broadband speed I have owners confirm the 2000mbps branded powerline adaptors by tp-link provide the full speed of their broadband package.

@androidavis that's interesting. I've tried to get two different brands of powerline adapters to work between my floors without success. Maybe I've got some "interesting" wiring in my house.

And when you're using them simply to provide a reliable link to your internet router, complete overkill.

Long CAT 7 cable secured with cable clips, hooked up to 4-port wireless router, powerline or just a ethernet switch upstairs is all you need.

My pair arrived yesterday. Setting them up was simply a case of plugging them in. Very happy 8-)

Same. no pairing needed, plugged them in and away they went. I also got the same speed (52mpbs) on my pc compared to being connected directly to router via Ethernet.
