I came across this and thought it was amazing for anyone who was struggling as broadband is a must these days but line rental really pushes it above some ppls price bracket so i thought i would share as I didnt even know it was an option it works out £5.10 a month for a land line and with cheap broadband only deals from a few quid a month its a great deal for ppl

to apply for an application form 0800 800 864 (8am-6pm Mon-Fri).

hope this helps x

You can usually get BT Basic if you're claiming one of these benefits:

Income Support
Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
Pensions Credit (Guaranteed Credit)
Employment Support Allowance (Income related)
Universal Credit (and are on zero earnings)

You must be the named account holder to apply.

All those working hard, do you want a round of applause!? Think yourselves lucky you have a job, just because someone receives these benefits doesn't make them a scrounger.

The employed! countries rich are what bleed this country, with tax avoidance and silly bonus packages, but he governments focus on the "scroungers" takes focus of the real problems, when in fact its a tiny minority of this country actually scrounge.

packages like these can help someone who is on benefits to get back into work giving them the (in today's society) necessity of phone and internet access.

What about the carers in this country, working 100+ hours a week to care for disabled or infirm people, for a wage of around £50.00 a week! with very little to no government support, someone who under the universal credit system will not even be entitled to this package.

If you don't need the help then don't come on here taking a dig at those who do, if you are lucky enough to be employed and in good health then have the grace to leave those less fortunate than you alone. Only a fool would believe the hype from papers and government and certain tv programmes that life on benefits is great, it could not be further than the truth.

Hot for those who can control their phone calls. Not so good if you have kids and they use the phone when they want.

Have to be on qualifying benefits.

My uncle has it and he isn't on benefits but he is an OAP.
#5

My uncle has it and he isn't on benefits but he is an OAP.

Then he is probably on Pension Credit which is one of the qualifying benefits.

Thats probably because its a choicr to stay in a job with low hours or low pay.

The majority of people find themselves unemployed or on sick through no fault of their own

Great for those who genuinely need the support/discounted line rental however just another reason for the scroungers not to get off their backsides what next discounted Sky, fags and booze?

It's a good idea but I take great offence to being called a filthy scrounger! We all have issues and reasons as to why we're on benefits, the only filthy scrounger in this country is the government I can assure you being on benefits is not! Easy

no available for infinity customers unfortunatly but have sorted a new contract at £5 a month cheaper and a new better hub

If it wasn't for the so called "scrounging Government" you wouldn't have any benefits at all so think yourselves lucky that you have a system in place.
4 Likes #27
If people on benefits are as well off as the Daily Mail reading bigots claim, then they wouldn't be interested in this deal anyway.... They are all going to have top of the range phone contracts with super duper fast broadband and 24/7 inclusive calls for everywhere in the world. Because they can easily afford the best, wot with creaming it in on benefits.

Heat.

The system in place was put there by the people, the government represents us they do not control us or babysit us, they do what the majority want or need, we do not need thank the people we elect to make our decisions, we make our own.

also it wasn't this government that brought it in, it was a different government from and different time, and this government is seeing fit to abolish as much of it as possible.

Great point... It's those that choose to or have to work that get no help. There's thousands of jobs out there ! I wish people that are capable of working would work and swallow their pride

A little over 2% of the benefits bill goes to the unemployed, most goes to pensioners (over 40%) and people in low paid work (over 20%).

Yeh they'll be next...
you what really ****** me off...? Someone close to me who's in her Earl 50s is ill and will never get better. she's struggles to make ends meet, doesn't claim any benefits and not entitled to any because of whatever reason... she still goes goes to work 5 days a week and her day starts with getting up at 6am, travelling by 1 bus and 1 train in total an hour and a half, working 8 hours and then travelling back. Transport costs her £120 a month to get to work and back . I ask you Great Britain. .. where is her help ? where is her support ? where is her reduction in bills, prescriptions, dentistry, free stuff, subsidised transport, home care, home help, reality TV opportunity.... when someone close is suffering I'm sure you'll all understand what I'm saying.

my original comment seems to have been taken in the wrong way. my problem with the benefit state is the people who can work but choose not to. I am proud to live in a country where such a system exists to help those who genuinely need it. However, it has been made for too easy for this system to be abused by those who don't have a good work ethic but have a lifetime subscription to the Jeremy kyle show. I know that seems such a cliché but it really is quite unbelievable the amount of people who rather than work will sit at home in front of the rot box because hey, 'why should should I bother working when I can do this all day and get paid'

rant over.

The welfare state was put in place around 1940 and I guarantee you 3/4 of the people on benefits now wouldn't receive anything close to what they get now, so yes I still stand by the fact that you are much better off today and should be thankful that the working populous of the country see fit to provision people with financial aid, housing, job search facilities, further education and much more

as for the government not controlling us, you may want to rethink that :)
