BT Broadband £5.00/month Existing customers

candy100candy100

I have just rang BT for my mac code as I was going to change to O2 broadband. I am on Option 1 and was told I could have it for £5 per month for 12months and it is a 12 month contract, I had been paying £17.99 per month. They also told me this offer ends Friday 19th and then would be, (i think they said) £9.95 after that.

I was also offered a second telephone line to make free calls from my pc, this is free. They told me with option 1 I was receiving free weekend landline calls but they could change that to free evening and weekend calls and there would be no extra charge, but I didnt go with that one as my calls are with primus.

Tel no. I rang to cancel was 0800328673812

Just a pointer for people who are considering o2 Broadband at just £7.50/m for their Standard offering (ie upto 8Mbps) with an o2 mobile phone contract/PAYG.

That upto 8Mbps is delivered by ADSL2+ (assuming you can get the 'Standard' package because o2 have their "LLU" equipment at your exchange) which can be a LOT faster than regular ADSL (depending on your line length/quality) and does NOT suffer from the hiccups with ADSLmax, where if you line is poor/noisy you can get "profiled" down to lower speeds (sometimes far lower speeds) for a period of time.

And that £7.50/m can be reduced by cashback incentives for signing up via at least a couple of referral sites - eg £20/net over 12m = £1.67 = net £5.83/m over that first year.

I've been o2 broadbanded for nearly 11 months now, ie very soon after they started the service, and it's been exceptionally good, including their freephone support.

I participate a lot in the ThinkBroadband forums on o2 broadband and prepared a features/comparison document for the o2 home broadband offerings (with those from Be aka Be There, Telefonica's other UK broadband brand) - the latest version is on Microsoft Live Sky Drive at:

    Hi
Rang BT to look at moving from opt3 to the top ToGo package, But im still on the 1st homehub and they wouldn't give me the new black version 2. Got put through to cancel line and ask for mac address and they said they would send the new hub/fone out and drop my opt 3 to £22 then it was up to me to upgrade to the ToGo. I asked for this in writing before it went live and he said it would go live the week afterwards giving me time to read the offer. 3 day later the hub was delivered. Still no letter and after 12 different staff over 1.5hrs they have transfered the cooling off period till the 23rd and sending a letter as they don't do this till after they start the contract. To which I said it's started and still no letter????????
I'm looking at the O2 mobile package with free O2 home broadband for £20.

I've got O2 from the start elsewhere and not a problem with it.

    I have just rang BT,
Managed to get Broadband down to £9.95 instead of £17.99 (12 month contract)
Evening and weekend call package now free instead of £2.70 per month.
The crazy thing is that this is a saving for me of £11.20 per month and the guy on the other end was trying his best to increase my monthly DD payments.

The O2 broadband for £7.50 is a great marker to use to get your own broadband package reduced. It worked with Orange for myself and BT for my parents, both of us are at £5 a month for a 12 month conract. No idea how good the O2 broadband is, but as a bargaining chip it is second to none!

    :?
Should I phone back and try to get this down to £5.00 per month?
The broadband will not come into effect until next Wednesday and the guy told me I do have a cooling of period.

I would definitely phone back and say you know about the offer, if they don't give in threaten to cancel. Its worth a try.

That took some doing but I have just done it! Broadband now £5.00 per month instead of £17.99 + Evening and weekend call package now free instead of £2.70 per month.
½ hour on the phone and past from person to person that didn’t believe the £5.00 was possible.
    Thank you sooooooooo much. :-D

Well I have just got my package down to £9.95 not as cheap as £5 but better than £17 that I am paying at the moment, plus they are sending me a new wireless router and free evening and weekend call on normal telephone line.
I don't know if I will use it my Belkin is doing just fine. But at least if I get a broadband problem I can use their equipment and they can't blame mine.
    Candy100 thanks for posting this.

Bite the bullet and give them another call, first of all they offered me the same as you. After pondering for a while I rang them back and got the broadband reduced to £5.00 per month.
