Havent experienced the revamped Saverstore yet, but this seems a good price to me. Own one of these myself and they are worth the money.

---------------------------

Description: BT Home Monitoring is a complete protection system for your home that alerts you to potential emergencies - wherever you are.

What is BT Home Monitoring? BT Home Monitoring offers round the clock protection for your home and family, with wireless sensors linked to an Internet monitoring service.

The monitoring service sends alerts via text message, email and fixed line phone within the UK when triggered by a security incident.

What does BT Home Monitoring offer? Home protection - sensors are placed around your home to detect intruders or the threat of fire (fire detection requires smoke detectors - sold separately)
Personal protection - the panic alarm function allows people inside your home to summon help in an emergency
Intruder deterrence - the loud internal warning siren will deter potential intruders
Easy installation - all components are pre-programmed for immediate use, without complex wiring
Real time response - sends alerts via text message, email and fixed line phone within the UK if your home is under threat (call charges apply).
Control and assurance - build an 'electronic neighbourhood watch' of trusted friends and neighbours.
Remote monitoring - see the status of your home online any time, from anywhere.
For use in any home - the starter kit suits a small to medium sized home.

Is it 'safe' to post deals from these guys?
#2
I'm assuming so? They were always so reliable before the old 'Savastore' went into liquidation.

Havent had the pleasure of ordering anything from them since they renamed.
#3
I'm tempted.. I wish they'd make it a cheaper number that it called considering that they charge £5 a month.. I believe each call to BT is at a charge of 8pm (0870) so really the idea of having true, "web monitoring of peoples comings and goings" would work out a bit costly - still tempted though, I'll sleep on it

Hmm,I might need some convincing.

Are you sure this is a complete VP1000 system? I couldn't find that info with the exception of the photo seemingly showing the system.

I would be surprised if it's not the complete system going by the whole description. Although they don't even mention it's the VP1000....

Assuming it is the complete VP1000, then voting hot, it's the ceapest its ever been.
Still can't decide if I should get one though, due to the costs as mentioned above.

Probably safer just now rather than in a few months time when the old problems start to re-emerge.

Looks like a basic Visonic PowerMax system to me. Approx. cost to buy a PowerMax starter kit was just over £200 last time I checked.

The PowerMax can be programmed to phone you on your mobile if there's an intruder incident. You shouldn't need a montoring service. You can also set and check the system by phone. We've had a system installed for a few years now and the only problem was when a carpet fitter cut the wire to the external alarm - everything else is linked by wireless. All manuals etc are dowloadable from the Visonic website. Spare batteries for PIRs, door contacts, keyfobs etc are obtainable on eBay - much cheaper than your friendly local security emporium but make sure you check the relevant manual before fitting them.

Guys, I have this and I DONT pay the £5 a month fee. Never have. PowerMax designed this for BT, you can put your phone number in so it rings you direct!!! I have done it, deleted the 0870 number and put my own mobile number in. Tested and it works! I'm of the opinion they are very similar to the powermax system.

The other thing you'll find impressive is the range of the keyfobs. I have the control panel in my living room, but keyfobs work upstairs in bedrooms and outside front door (for me anyway). Surprised me!

If you want any more info feel free to ask.

EDIT: The only negative I have found with this system is you cant get battery powered external bell boxes for these that work wirelessly. The only wireless external bell boxes are mains powered. Youd need an electrician do this for you. But I dont want one.

Good post mikeyp and thanks for adding all the extra info

I have a 2 bed semi and the 'sensor test' says I have a strong signal on all my sensors. Cant see why this wouldnt be suitable for a 3 bed semi.

Only thing I did, was bought extra door contact for back patio door and an extra keyfob for the missus.

Does this come with an Alarm ?

I just want a wireless system that wakes the entire street up if a sensor is activated not a damn text in the middle of the night that might come through 20mins after my house has been emptied

Big enough for 4 bed detached ?

TIA,
Mike.

Hi there,

I have been around for a while, but have never registered. I have ordered one of these through Paypal as I get buyer protection and if the item is not as advertised atleast I have reasurrance.

I'm assuming that I can purchase extra sensors for all rooms in my house. I have had quick look at BT's product review and it supports an additional 20+ sensors. This is great as on ebay you can get smoke detector sensors and pressure sensitive sensors for the staircase and landings which is ideal!

MikeyP if you could kindly share how you changed the system so it calls your mobile or landline or texts your mobile instead of the £5 p/month BT charge that would be great!

Hopefully, this will be the BTVP1000 which is £170 on their site at the moment and includes the external siren box too!

Will let you know on Friday when I expect it to arrive.

Thanks Guys, This is a great system if all is as advertised and dispalyed.

Thanks, Just ordered one of these & some other stuff too.

Your order reference number is: xxxxxx

LOL - it seems they are still using old web pages!

Okay the control panel has a siren inbuilt into it and it is VERY loud! Hopefully that will be enough to scare intruders. If you want to wake the street I'd suggest getting an external bell box, they connect to the Vp1000 wirelessly, but are mains powered. As I said earlier probably a job for an electrician.

As for extra sensors, I just bought 2 of these packages, used the extra door contact and keyfob from the 2nd one and sold the rest on eBay! Works out cheaper than buying just sensors / keyfobs on their own.

Instructions on entering the fone number are in the manual, its very easy (I will check)!
Havent done the text thingy although I recall seing something for that.

Edit: Yes I believe it can cope on a 4 bed. Just probably need more sensors and door contacts.

Dont buy smoke detectors on eBay! You can get them for £19.99 here:

Thats a HOT deal.

Oh and one other thing, buy some trunking to hide the power cable from the control panel, thats what I did. Looks so much better. I will post a pic later and show you.

Does anyone know if a couple of cats are likely to trigger these sensors? Thanks in advance.
#23
Forgive me for appearing thick, but is the control unit mains powered? Obviously the phone line needs wiring to the unit, are the sensors wire and mains free?
#25
They e-mailed to say my order has been cancelled without any reason.

Did you guys get the last ones? :p

Control panel is mains powered, but has a backup rechargeable lithium battery (lasts 9-12 hours if power is lost I believe, dont quote me on that). Control panel is also tamper proof.

All the sensors are wireless, see below (Uses small cyclinder batteries that comes with package). Sensors will also notify control panel when these are running low, which will verbally tell you (so the manual says). I expect the batteries to last a couple of years but only time will tell.

They have cancelled mine too! With no reason given at all - this company does seem to suck a tad!

I had all sorts of confusion over whether payment had been taken, and at one stage my order tracking was showing I had ordered 4 units instead of 2. My last confirmation email says it has been taken from two different cards!

Everything seems to be a bit of a shambles at Saverstore at the moment! Which is why I just decided to telephone them and sort it all out the old fashioned way.

I agree!!
I only ordered one, but my order tracking currently shows two units. The header info says awaiting credit card authorisation, but the detail says awaiting stock (that's where it is listed twice - hope I don't get charged for two units...)
#33
Hi

MikeyP, If it arrives I will make sure to wire it neatly using trunking to hide the wire/cables. Thanks for the Smoke detector link

Do you also know if these pressure mats will work with the unit, as these are very useful. Link:- http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=pressure%20mat&source=15&SD=Y

Also I checked my tracking and it also shows 2 units being picked which is strange but I paid for one but the total is showing for the cost of one alarm system multiplied by two.

Very Confusing.

Hi guys,

Mine too also turned up today and is the same BTVP1000. Bit dissapointed there was no external dummy box as this was shown in the package on BT's website. However for the price I will do the same as Tea Towel and buy the extra package and as Mikey P suggested a wireless smoke detector sensor from PC World.

I don't know why other people's orders were cancelled, but somethimes people get greedy and order 4 of these things not taking into consideration the needs of others on here who will just require one.

Guess I was wuick of the mark to order mine. I hope every one else's turn up.

My weekend will be busy :p

Cheers mate, ordered one. rep given:thumbsup:
