Yes. Very very beautiful. Omg lol
Read this off another forum for those interested in travel to Iran:

"According to Gem TV as an Farsi television The latest news by this date as 13/12-2015 MASTER CARD is active in Iran"

I have been there both in 2007 & 1994; visited Tehran including the Northern suburbs in addition to Qom, Mashhad, beaches of Tabriz (inc. some really cool late night parties). It is a vibrant place.

British accent + Iranian women = :P

I think its one way only :)

I flew with Kuwait Airways to New York in Dec 2003. Nightmare journey - plane started smoking on the runway and eventually we ended up off the plane and in put up in hotels in Heathrow (which was a fiasco in its own right). They didn't offload the bags as they wanted a quick start in the morning but unfortunately no one from Kuwait Airlines turned up the next day and so after hours of not knowing what was going on we all ended up getting off-boarded onto different airlines who had some spare capacity (which at Christmas time was not easy). I ended up losing a couple of days of a 7 day holiday. Shocking service and no apology from them whatsoever - consequently I'd never fly with them again....could have been an isolated incident but be warned, that's all I would say.
12 years ago? Most airlines have changed since then!

Quite possibly - just a bad experience and could have been a one off. For me, once bitten on this one, and although the price is good, I'd still not use them again.

this is one way? then this is not a good price!

Sub £300 for a one way flight to New York at the beginning of the summer holidays? Or leave a week earlier and get a return for 2 adults for £750... If there's a better price then post it up - I'll be all over it - I'd cancel my current booking to do go for it!

Is there a reason why you're comparing with 2 adult tickets? Would those same dates not give you £375 return for one person or do you have to buy 2 adult tickets to qualify

I went to NY with them. basic plane - but the meal was the best I've ever had on a plane in economy. and I fly a lot. was like pulled pork but with lamb.
It's not right if it's like pork but lamb...
In NY now, BA flight was £450 return from Aberdeen via heathrow, end August, early sept flights seemed to be about the cheapest. Weather is very hot and humid.

Hi, I sent you a private message.
rachelandgromit - did you have a chance to look for any deals for the South America? Unfortunately I can't find any for less than £800pp now so your help would be much appreciated, I intend to book this weekend. No problem if you are away and sorry for bothering you.

Cheers
DD96118
rachelandgromit,

After losing in negotiations with my wife we have now decided to spend 3 weeks in South America rather than the USA. We'll be flying in/out of Cusco, Peru and Rio, Brazil same dates (departing 13th August, returning 3rd September). We don't mind which city we fly into and can fly out of anywhere in Europe. If you can help that would be great, the best price I can find is GBP700 exc flights from UK to the relevant European city (another GBP200).

If you can help I would really appreciate it (when you are back). thanks!

how long does the transfer need to be in London to ensure you can get your bag before it goes onto Oslo?

Did this myself last year, direct with BA (anyone used budgetair before?) and no they dont want you to get off at London so dont tell them Just say you need your baggage to deliver a present to someone in London. They know what your doing, but cant be arsed. We didnt get charged the last leg.

I have used BudgetAir for flights to HKG a few times. They take some time to book tickets as I believe someone has to manually process it as opposed to online real time. But then they may have changed in the last month!

We flew SAS this year open jaw Stockholm--Beijing-Copenhagen for £205. We spent time in Sweden/Lapland for Valentines day and got to see the Northern Lights and Copenhagen after. It was a great trip but yes the flight was very quiet and Beijing airport was near empty! I don't think SAS have the full lie flat seats in business. Their economy was pretty good too.
Hot! Easter holiday dates sounds good not too hot at that time in hk around 25c to 28c.

Rachelandgromit,

Thank you so so much for your posts to date, I have been reading them with interest and now I finally have the leave to do my dream west coast USA road trip. I would be extremely grateful if you could have quick look for any open jaw or otherwise cheapest flights. We intend to travel the stretch between Portland (or Seattle) and LA (or San Diego). Very flexible and don't mind which direction we go in (south to north or north to south). Our dates are outbound on 13th or 14th August, returning on 2nd-4th September 2015. I'm based in London so can fly out of any European destination.

Hope you can help as at the moment the flights are coming in at GBP800+ each making the cost of the trip over-budget and not in the shortlist..

Thank you so so much again.

Cheers

How do people find these 'deals' ? Do you just search for wherever is cheap to fly to and then see where you can fly from there?

calm calm down you 2 lot of faff either way to get to oslo

All I've done is correct factually inaccurate information which has been posted by somebody who clearly does not understand what the original fare was all about.

the airline can send you back to Oslo directly, so good luck booking a short notice flight from Oslo to London.
I've read some stupid posts in my time but this one has to take the biscuit.
This isn't one plane flying from SFO to OSL, with a refueling stop in LHR. It's 2 separate flights. The flight from SFO to LHR is on a 747-400 with over 300 seats. The flight from LHR to Osl is an A319 with about 125 seats. At the very least there will be 180 people on the 747 that aren't going to OSL. Obviously the flight to LHR will end up in LHR and nowhere else.
Maybe do some research before you reply with an idiotic comment next time. In case of problems the airline only has to get you back to Oslo, as that is your final destination. If they choose they can route you via NYC or any hub they choose. Yes some people will fly to LHR, but you have no rights to demand they fly you there.
Lord give me strength.
The flight from SFO to LHR is BA286. It is a scheduled flight that goes from SFO to LHR, no where else. The airlines only obligation is to get you to LHR, nowhere else. It's no more likely to end up in Oslo that a BA scheduled flight from Sydney, Hong kong or Rio.
Maybe you should look up the open jaw guidelines. The ONLY obligation is to get you to Oslo. BA are used as a codeshare airline. Finnish air can transfer you to a direct flight to Oslo if there were any problems with the BA leg. Its all there in the t&c's when you book. Please book this deal.....then I'll start hoping for an icelandic volcano a day before you return.....to Oslo!

Please read posts 7 and 13

It's not an open jaw flight, it's a multi city flight, with 3 separate journeys. The second journey is SFO to LHR on BA 286. It will take you to LHR and nowhere else. Irrespective of where your final destination is, when you get to LHR you will have no choice but to go through passport control, collect your luggage, clear customs and walk out of the airport.

Indeed you can but I believe these are with Transaero and not everyone will want to fly with this carrier and stop at VKO for 10 hours plus. There have been flights to China with the Russian carriers sub £200 previously.

We didn't have a hotel booked for one night and they were not happy bunnies when we went to get our visa. It was because we had booked the overnight train to Xian and we had luckily got the email with the tickets on so we were able to 'prove' where we were. Perhaps we just got someone strict but it may be worth preparing yourself that they may want to see all accommodation bookings which was a bit bonkers IMO. You could always book somewhere that has free cancellation so you have a 'booking' but then subsequently cancel if you find you have to have hotel bookings for the visa.

Did you have any trouble getting a visa for China with you doing Tibet? When we went to get our Visa from Manchester they went through all our accommodation bookings and itinerary to make sure there were no nights unaccounted for and our associated flights.
well to visit Tibet you must arrange a tour and they have to arrange the Tibet permit, from what I understand they also arrange your visa for China (called a group visa) and you have to tell them the date you are leaving China. I think you have a maximum 28 days in total, it's a bit of a pain that they are so strict with it all, we will only have a hotel in Beijing booked the rest will be done at the time so I hope they are ok with that :/

Edited By: rachelandgromit on Mar 20, 2015 12:37
Some dumb people. It was made pretty clear that you could use the free 72 hour visa IF you are using China as a stopping off point to fly out of China.

So here's my 'obvious' comment. When you're on the plane, don't forget to breathe.
