It might be worth finding out what drive is in there, if you had a smaller internal storage drive you could get this and swap out the 1tb in it for the smaller drive in your pc.

You'd end up with a smaller external backup and 1tb internal drive for the same price as a 1tb on it's own :) (just a thought).
I got one of these about 2 months ago from ebuyer for around £80. They did stop selling the 1TB model not long after which was odd :?
Voted cold.

Thanks to user who posted cdiscount price of £75, with quidco, with the £2 voucher to cancel delivery charge!

Ordered that this evening. If user hand't have posted I'd be worse off by now ;)
These units are often available for around the £75 to £80 mark - the £140 RRP is a joke.

As for the drive, I got mine about 6 weeks ago and its a Western Digital eco drive (which typically costs more than £75 as a bare unit, lol)
My Buffalo 500 has a Hitachi Deskstar SATA II HDP725050GLA360. It has good reviews for being very quiet and energy efficient, but it does have a slow average seek time of about 18ms.
