1TB USB External Hard Drive for £79.99 + free delivery down from £139.99.
High customer rating.
Didn't buy it as I already have a different one but the price is really good.

12/01/09 Really surprised with that cold response, especially that a 500GB external disk from Buffalo for £44.99 was voted a very hot deal in another post (over 200 degrees). Just doesn't make sense

Got one at this price the week before Christmas so I guess it's a cold deal from me.

Received one of these for Xmas. Had LOADS of problems. Email customer services were terrible, however, I called and spoke to a very helpful young man. As it is My problem still isn't resolved as Buffalos site isn't upto date (not sure wether they intend to at all) so no software for my drive.

Also drive sounds like its scratching when formatting or occasional spells when transfering, I am unsure whther it is a hardware fault or normal operation.

What OS are you using? Windows XP or Vista or other OS? I'd be interested what upgrade you need because I don't want to be in the same position.

I'm using Vista. The problem is the software is pre-installed on the drive - no disc. I am unable to download it as it is not listed under my model, also the site states that my serial is invalid, it's written on the box infont of me so I'm pretty sure it isn't.

sorry - only saw the 139.99 and thought you had lost your marbles. Not voting either way

Thinking about it, it's still a cracking price - think back to January last year - how much would £79 get us? 180 GB?!

Voted hot, heard bad things about the Hard Drive that's on offer in Tesco, including a very slow transfer rate.

However, I bought this last week from PC World - same price and from Western Digital, plus I managed to go through Quidco . ..

If anyone is worried about reliability then buy a 1tb samsung spinpoint and stick it in a decent SATA caddie.

I've got 4 x spinpoints and never had one problem, all are still as silent as when i first bought them.

Well in the original post for this drive here, it doesn't get such a bad rep.

Hi, i'm deciding whether to buy the Buffalo or the western digital. Both are around the same price do you or anyone else know which one is better? By the by I'd be using it with mac in case that matters.

Thanks a lot
Marc
