Why though

... Because.
#3
Thanks. Obvious when you think about it.

I'll give it heat, it's a great price, I ordered one on Thursday (already been despatched). Figured it would already be on here as Play.Com are having some stonking deals ... if your quick.

Put this way 500Gb USB Drive £50 - £55, Apple Universal Dock £40, neither as stylish as this. Decent dock alone will cost between £15 and £50

I'm getting one. I'm also getting one of those JML ladders with built in fish tank.
#6
Wouldn't that be a fish ladder?
#7
I was about to rag on this deal but ignore the dock part and £70 for a 500GB, portable, Firewire 800 hard drive is hot.

PS Don't forget Quidco.

Funny that. I was just looking at Fifa's new lead lined footballs... more durable, dont you know?

this is the most ridiculous product ever made. i'm getting one

Might buy one of these to go with the chocolate teapot I bought last week..

this looks good as im looking for a HD and a nice iphone dock to charge, however funding is quite low at the moment but have some heat :)
#13
I have an iPod dock and I'm looking for a portable hard drive. Is there any point in getting this instead of just a hard drive? Can I connect this straight to the PC? Can I put films and pictures on it?
#14
I've been looking for that ladder **** fishtank combo for ages! Have you found a good deal on it somewhere? Cant find it anywhere on HUKD... :D

Really? I wrote the word c u m, and it blanks it out?? Can i write grammar fascists and get away with it?

If you want a portable Firewire 800 drive (i.e. because you have a recent Macbook Pro) then this is a deal as the next cheapest drive of this size is at least £80. Firewire 800 is much faster than USB2 especially for sustained file transfers.

If you don't need it to be both Firewire 800 and portable, then you can get a cheaper drive (e.g. 1TB Firewire 800 non-portable for ~£90 or portable 500GB USB2 for £50 or less).

If you don't care about it being portable or Firewire 800 then you can get a 1TB USB2 external for about £50.

Just for reference, where ">" means "faster than":

eSATA > Firewire 800 > Firewire 400 > USB2 > USB1

I believe USB3 will be as fast if not faster than eSATA though don't quote me on that.

Does it work with the Iphone 4 ?
#26
Why are people saying this is useless? Looks good to me. Rather than having a USB hard drive and your iPhone connected to your PC with the wires looking messy, just have this instead. Looks much tidier.

I'd buy it if I wasn't skint from moving house. My TV supports USB hard drives, so I could potentially have this sat near my TV. Ah well.

What an utterly pointless combo.

Ordered. Heat and thanks given.

Dualie duly arrived today ! (Ordered at £69.99 before it became a hot deal). Comes with a comprehensive set of cables, 2 x USB, 2 x Firewire (a nine pine and a six pin), docking station, the 500gb HDD (obviously), power pack.

When connected direct to PC with USB or Firewire it is 100% bus powered. Nice drive, not as stylish as a G-Technology (mini raid) and no carry bag but I'm splitting hairs. As I said before the Apple universal dock is £40 on it's own.

iPhone 4 ? No tray in the pack for this but they connector in the dock is universal the tray is just to give the "i" product a snug fit.

Don't care if I'm branded a sheep, great product, great price.
