muckillamuckilla

Seen the price for this drive....[STATE REASONS IF VOTING COLD.] This has been reduced this same drive but usb 2.0 is selling for 79.99 on amazon!! so this 3.0 is even cheaper with faster speeds due to being usb 3.0 seems like a good buy to me.
Even the Buffalo Ministation 1tb 2.0 usb is selling for £94.99 at play.com

MiniStation USB 3.0 is a sleek and lightweight portable USB Storage device, utilizing cutting edge USB 3.0 technology and with a data transfer speed of up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0. The feature rich software

so a Buffalo 500GB MiniStation usb 3.0 for £46.98 gets voted over 200° when that would be 2x £46.98= £93.96 yet this drive is under £80... are people missing this deal?

No people just aren't buying such small expensive drives, it doesn't make the larger one a bargain in comparison. That's not the best price for a USB drive of that size unless you really want that brand or something.

such expensive? it works out to less than 80p a GB how cheap do you want it to be? im not comparing a larger drive. Its about voting on the deal not if you prefer to buy smaller drives then this wouldn't appeal to you. Vote on the deal for those who this would appeal to if your not interested move on and re-frame from voting.

Why would someone need that much space anyway?

WD now sells a 2TB size portable drive... theres alot of 1TB drives out there so i guess it sells or else WD wouldn't have brought out a even bigger size if 1TB didn't appeal to much people. Alot of Pc's come with 1tb drives these days even Desktops its becoming a standard so this has many uses really... silly question.

If you have an extensive music or movie collection (and you don’t plan on quitting your download habits anytime soon), bigger is better. Prices have dropped so much on external storage that there’s no harm in getting a 1TB or 2TB drive.

Possible stupid question from the non-tech here but are USB3 devices like these compatible with USB2 ports? Or if I bought a USB2 portable hard drive and I upgrade my laptop in the future, would that USB2 device be able to be used in a USB3 port? Thanks :-)

Erm, correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't get to make the rules for the site, and that isn't in the rules, unless they've changed recently. Otherwise no one would bother voting.

    Remember: this isn't a competition.

OP (and many others) obviously think it's a competition where his deal must be liked or reasons given otherwise. Whatever happened to just posting a deal because you think it will benefit others, not for the heat or badges etc. If people don't like it then it's no skin off your nose and you don't lose anything.

Its just the fact if something gets voted cold i think its helpful if people would explain why they choose this instead of leaving the person who poted them in the dark about why this was done but yes people are taking the mic about that but i rather people read that and left a comment so i knew atleast they were voting over being a idiot instead of voting because it could be found cheaper elsewhere.

    Ok.. first.

    Why leave a comment?
HUKD is a community of like minded individuals, searching for the best deals on the net. Making constructive comments and contributing to the community makes HUKD a better, more resourceful tool for everyone. You may have expertise in one or more of the main topics and perhaps you'll be able to help other members who are seeking further information on a specific deal. Or perhaps you've managed to source an offer cheaper elsewhere.. if so, it helps everyone if you can provide a heads up or link to the cheaper price. Always remember that it takes time for members to source and post deals, so it's always worth thanking those who make the effort.

Second ive been informed by a Mod about this which said.

Regarding voting. It would be appreciated if you could comment in threads (as per point X in the HUKD Code of Conduct etc).
    X. Deal Voting:

    * When voting on the temperature of a deal, please do so fairly.
    * We request that cold voters leave a reason for doing so. By leaving constructive criticism, it will help your fellow members improve their posts in the future.

    http://www.hotukdeals.com/feedback/hukd-forum-code-of-conduct/89673

There's nothing more off putting to a deal poster than to see their deals get colded for no apparent reason so your input in these threads will be appreciated by the OP's; as I'm sure you will appreciate people take time to find and post deals.

    so move alone troll.

No its the matter of when a deal get's voted cold and yet no reason's are given its nice to get feedback on why if something gets voted cold people did this. I could say more but ive left the rest below in another reply.

yes they are backwards compatible meaning you can use this on a device that only has USB2 ports but it won't be asfast in some aspects compared to if you used this on a USB3 but never the less this will work no bother.
