Are these compatible for Windows Vista ReadyBoost? :)

apparently so (i did a google search)
"i know a workaround for 'unqualified devices'
first stick in the flash drive, go to its properties, and under readyboost tab, just check the box that says it'll check it.
go to regedit > local machine > Software > Mircosoft > EGM or whatever > under that, you'll find whatever flash drive you put in before > change 'statusvalue' to 2 and change the read and write speed values to like 1000 each. So far, the only difference i notice on the vista ultimate (512mb ram p4ht 3.2ghz w/ a 512mb flash drive) is extremely fast program launching."

I have vista ultimate and been meaning to get one of these for a while.
I only need a 2gb one though, as i already have 2gb ram installed.

Does using ready boost have the same effect as upgrading memory?

Careful about doing that registry hack. Sure, vista will try and use your flash drive. But if your flash drive just isn't fast enough, then you won't see much benefit anyway.

Anyone know if this is Windows 98 compatible? It would be really handy for me to use to copy files from my old PC to my new one.
#15

I was told at a the Microsoft Technet Roadshow event on Tuesday that any USB 2.0 drive is good for readyboost. They recommend allocating 2GB, but you could give it less.

Windows 98 would need drivers. You might be able to get them from the Buffalo website.
