Not purchased but just basketed this up & Standard International shipping is listed @ £6.98 to my UK address.....

If I can get this sent to the UK this might be the best deal ever.

Thank you.

You will need a multi-region DVD player to be able to watch these.
What is the shipping costs to the UK?
Don't forget you could also be hit with a big Customs Charge/Import Duty.

That's very cheap.

Plus import duty VAT plus Royal Mail charges which might add up to about 30% extra on top

just froogled and cheapest good name is dvd.co.uk at 99.99 so even if they add %50 it still comes in cheaper?
Im not that experienced at importing, caiman USA on amazon uk marketplace is my best lol

Be prepared to pay import duty :)

Just double checked & Standard delivery is 9-36 days & still shows as $6.98 to a UK address, in fact I listed this earlier as £'s when it's $'s so even cheaper....this is however excluding import fees as PJR & yourself have noted because unlike single DVD's, you WILL get hit for import.
#10
Great find dantoe12, just ordered and shipping was only $6.98 rather than £6.98 so a total of $105.97 - £52.85.

True enough will most likely have to add on any import duty etc but sometimes they get through without any extra charges.

anyone got a pair of inear headphone as thank you, my pair literally just broke :(
oh well, they were free as i complained about my old pair breaking whilst i was at sony lol
#12
Whats the import duty likely to be on a £50 purchase?
#13
I buy a few box sets from 'Amazon USA'. You do often get stung with import duty but their prices (such as this one) can make it well worth while. I recently picked up Season 1 of The Venture Brothers for about £6 and some of the Moonlighting seasons for about £13 each (and no import duty on those either). The postage is always very cheap too. Even if you get stung for about £20 it's still about works out to about half the price of the UK version of the set on Amazon UK, which retails at £118.97.

By the way, please note that the Region 1 released is not widescreen. There is a lot of debate over the widescreen episodes that were shown over here as apparently all the Buffy seasons were actually shot in 4:3 and then cropped to 16:9 (ie. the top and bottom of the shots were just cut off).

Welcome to HUKD :-D
Anything over £18 in value could be charged an Import Duty:-

About £9 i think
#16
had a quick look around and does this seem right, sounds good to me.

Duty is 3.5%, plus 17.5% on top of that, aswell as the post office collection charge of about £4.00. The charges will have to be paid to the post office/postman before you can get your item.

Note: These charges are based on DVDs only through the post office, other items such as hardware will incur widely different charges and other carriers such as parcelforce, DHL etc will also vary with the addition that some carriers may deliver and then invoice later for the charges.

If so £68.27 is amazing i think for that set. damnit, why cant i have some money :(

Bear in mind the post office charge is now £8 - still a good deal but a little more ...

i paid £14 on a $100 import once.
#19
Doh, i knew I should have sold my spare copy sooner, now I won't get as much for it. I paid about £32 fees on $150...about £15 was customs fees and the other £17 was Parcel Force's ripoff handling fees.

They weren't cropped, they opened up more each side. This does lead to excellent bonus continuity errors with mics and blue screens.

You WILL get charged import for this. Amazon USA shipments get caught most of the time now.
Expect to pay about £20 on top

Im undecided whether or not to buy this, great price but I dont really want to pay £20 on top when it eventually gets here.

same here, I would def get it for £52 but paying up to another £20 is way too much... even for Sarah Michelle Geller
#25
Even with an extra £20 it's half the UK price!
#26
I thought the thumbnail picture was a packet of cigarettes!

Need to get my eyes tested, I think.
#27
The biggest problem with fees is that, at least when i ordered this when it was first released, it's delivered by ParcelForce and their handling fee's are crazy...they charge more than the actual customs (VAT etc.) charge.

As mentioned you'd be looking at paying around the £20 mark in fees once it gets to you. Still a bargain though - easily worth £70 odd quid (I paid $130 plus £30 fees when I preordered).
#28
Was tempted (a little) until I heard that these were not 16:9 ... not so enthusiastic now. Thanks OP anyway.
#29
Last time I ordered from Amazon US I paid teh $24.99 extra to get it couriered over and paid no import tax as they include that in the charge. Just ordered this box set to replace my aging individual ones and in total it comes to about £75-ish.

Should be with me for the weekend as well :)

For all the Fullscreen Vs Widescreen posters you might wanna read what's on the actual AmazonUS page.....

I keep running into people who want the UK version cause it's widescreen. Guys, it's very simple - not always widesceen is better. At Buffy - Joss wanted us to see it in Full screen - not widescreen - it's very simple. The widescreen contains more elements that was not intended to be seen !

Here is a note from JOSS about it:
No doubt you are looking over this scrumptious BUFFY package and exclaiming "No @#$%ing letterboxing ? Whutzat ? GYPPED !" Possibly you are breaking things. Please calm down. The fabulous episodes of BUFFY (and that one crappy one, sorry about that, seemed really cool when we wrote it...) were not shot in a widescreen format. They were shot in the TV 4 by 3 ratio. Now I'm a letterbox fanatic, but not just because I crave th' wide. I want to see the whole screen, as framed by the director. The BUFFY's I (and others) shot were framed for traditional TVs. Adding space to the sides simply for the sake of trying to look more cinematic would betray the very exact mise-en-scene I was trying to create. I am a purist, and this is the purest way to watch BUFFY. I have resisted the effort to letterbox BUFFY from the start and always will, because that is not the show we shot. This is. So enjoy ! Stop breaking things. You're getting the best presentation of -- let's face it -- the best Television Drama since MATCHGAME '79. Bye for now !
Sincerely,
Joss Whedon

At that price it had to be done.

...and now I hate myself for it.

Given that at the cheapest, it appears that in the UK you can get it for £98 (Bensons World), it does make me wonder whether this is worthwhile.

http://www.find-dvd.co.uk/2729501000.htm

Sure your saving £20..assuming the worst happens and you get charged £20 extra import duty and postage collection.

However, it only works on multiplayer region DVDs...and if something is wrong with one of those DVDs, more heavy duty postage to pay to send them back to get a replacement :D

Given all that though, if I had two pence to rub together, I would go out and nab this neat little set. A great gift item regardless :)

Hot rep given
