I don't know what makes you say that. Bulova have a long history of watch making and innovation.
They are owned by Citizen, and the movement in this watch is Miyota(owned by Citizen) and is a quality robust movement used in many watches.
So if you want an Automatic and you like the looks of this you can't go wrong at this price.
Believe me when I say it won't be this price for long.

Thanks OP :)

Just got it for £30.39 (using £40 of xmas gift vouchers I had, plus the fashion sign up code)

Looks like a decent watch for £70, although clearly not worth the inflated £200+ Amazon were originally asking. It will do for occasional wear :)

I presume it only has a mineral crystal (not sapphire), given the price?

Yes mineral crystal as are most Bulova's and most watches that are <£250
#13
Thanks, makes sense at the price.
#14
Ordered, forgot to try the mastercard code, might have got for £65 if multiple codes allowed!
#15
Bought this for £52 just B4 Xmas from Argos.Full price was £109 but code jingle20 reduced this to £87 then AMEX were offering a £25 statement credit on a £50 or more spend at Argos bringing the price down to £62 then a £10 free Argos voucher from a previous spend closed the deal at £52.

I think all he means is that the brand is not especially "desirable", which is a fair point.

At this price point though, your point of it having a "quality robust movement" is far more important that the lower league brand name.

And for the price, the brand is just fine anyway. There is no desirable brand mechanical watch available at this price IMHO anyway :) Probably not even a quartz one in fact.

This is £149 at Argos

Would have purchased this as a spare everyday watch however it does not possess a date feature.
#19
Ashame reall given it is an automatic.

Speechless..... oO you have completely missed the point of this watch. i.e. that it is an automatic....and to many therefore FAR more desirable than a quartz.

I could not edit my 1st comment to say that it us ashame that given it is an automatic watch for less thab £100, a date dial would have been the stimulus to purchase the item.

So cast your speechlessness aside.

Thus no point has been missed.

LOL, my speechlessness is cast aside :p

btw, Bigbaz, as you already have yours, can you tell me whether the auto wind is bi-directional, clockwise only or anti-clockwise only? (Just asking so I can leave it on a winder when it arrives.)

love you long time :p

It's bi-directional, I must admit I'm really interested in your ESP abilities as I have not mentioned that I own this watch, but I did indeed buy this watch on the Black Friday deals, I paid £84.99 for it

To anyone who has one how is the strap on this? Is it easily adjustable for different wrist sizes?

Its straightforward to adjust by removing links use a hammer and punch, the links have arrows showing the direction there's no smaller links or micro adjustment. IF you don't feel confident take it to a jeweller, it will probably cost about £10.

Thank you, yeah just wanted to confirm that was the case as couldn't find any pictures of that exact model with the full wrist view.

Wow, a cheap Bulova! Off to Cash Generator to sell my TagHeuer and buy 20 of them!

This or a Seiko 5?

This or a Seiko 5?

Seiko 5 IMO, but to be honest neither will be that accurate, it's only once you move up the price range a bit that you start getting a fairly accurate automatic. For this sort of money you'd do better buying a nice looking quartz really.
#35
What part of this is automatic? does it wind itself? It doesn't have a date? Forgive my ignorance.

An automatic is a mechanical watch that winds itself with the movement of your wrist. Some can also be hand wound with the crown.
Some watches are a cross between electronic and mechanical (eg Seiko Kinetics) where the movement of the wrist will charge a battery, as opposed to winding a spring,
Putting a date feature on a watch can very often spoil the looks of the watch so its not obligatory to do so.

Cheers for the clarification

You probably should, your kidding yourself if you think that Tag sits very far above Bulova on the horological ladder. Tag is a pseudo luxury brand pumped out by Swatch that make very few good watches (see Grand Carrera) - the vast majority are utter garbage sold to "trotters independent trading" types that think they have made it and that they have a quality "timepiece".

looks cheap looking, they do make good movements but not my cup of tea

Tag is not owned by the Swatch group. I do however agree that Tags are overrated (and I do own one)
Omega is owned by the Swatch group and most people would class Omega's as superb timepieces
