Obviously running (erm, driving) scared due to the digital download of this title being available from the PlayStation Network via the PlayStation Store this week (at £24.99), GameStation have dropped the price of "Burnout Paradise" down to £19.99 in their "Deal of the Week".

Latest patches available via the PlayStation Network offer the free "Davis" update (1.40) to include Bikes & Night features, and most recently version 1.50 adds support for (64) Trophies to the title (not retrospectively applied like originally intended; you need to start a new game to gain all the Trophies).

Also £19.99 instore at Currys.

Not sure if it's permanent or on offer?

Good price but I really dislike this game. Loved all the other previous Burnout's but this is just wrong.
#3
I only played the demo but the driving around the city kinda put me off, it was bad enough having the few seconds delay restarting a race in the previous games but now you have to drive halfway across the city (apparently). Also the lack of the crash mode is a huge shame (along with now split screen 2 player mode).
#4
how can you even comment on a game you have only played the demo of?

this is a great game and highly addictive , especially when you get online with it

hot

probably gonna goto platinum soon tho
#5
Ive been waiting around to get an even cheaper copy of this so whilst it is hot, im still not going to get it just yet

#8
Brilliant game
With the bikes I'm loving it all over again :-D
#9
Amazing game, 1000+ hours clocked so far, everything done, well worth £20 especially with all the free updates that have been added (bikes, new online game modes, PS3 custom soundtrack and trophy support, 140 new challenges, 2 new cars, 4 new liveries and a soon to be released island)
#10
Also the additon of day/night driving.....fantastic game.
#11
Brilliant game that just keeps getting better with the updates. Online gameplay is fantastic now.
#12

If you only played the demo then your really missing out this is a totally new online gaming experience with a quick tap of the d pad your straight online with your buddies.

Freeburn challenges are what this game is all about plus the new FREE game modes and the new FREE bikes and day night update make it my fave game on the 360 buy quite some distance.

New Island and planes still to come.

I dunno... why don't you buy the PS3 version & find out? :)

Yes 99% of the updates are the same the only ones that are different are ones that are to do with PSN only issues and the ps3 voip.

The games are exactly the same.

So much the same that Criterion says they could quite easily have Ps3 players play 360 players online .

Sadly for political reasons this will never happen.

er, because i thought the demo was rubbish and kept hearing how much better the full game was

so I rented the full game about 6 months ago from lovefilm but just didnt get the big deal. it just seemed as though you were expected to drive from one part of the city to another.

how dull :?

There are many challenges offline as well as online to complete, but yes, this is a driving/racing title, and the vast fictional city has been created for you to explore. How you do this is up to you.

The challenges consist of...

* Races: Reach point B from point A quicker than one or more opponents.
* Road Rage: Run a specific number of opponents off the road (performing a "takedown" on each) in a given time.
* Marked Man: Survive a journey from point A to point B by not getting "taken down" by a number of console-controlled vehicles.
* Stunt Run: Chain combinations of stunts (boosts, jumps, drifts & so on) of various points values to reach a set score in a given time.
* Burning Route (Burning Ride, or Midnight Ride): Race from point A to point B in a specific vehicle in a predefined duration to gain an upgraded variant of the vehicle. The "Ride" challenges are just for bikes. "Midnight Ride" takes place between in the in-game times of 8pm & 8am.

But if this is not your idea of a good game, then that's fine. As you said, many people disagree with you, and I am one of them. I played for about 6 hours in total yesterday, and plan to return later this morning.

Two of the impressive aspects of the game are the attention to detail in rendering the crashes with in-game objects, and the lack of any delay before dropping in & out of an online game.

I cannot comment on the Xbox 360 variant as I have never seen it, nor do I own any Microsoft consoles. Two immediate family members do, however, and one has the "Burnout Paradise" title. He has spent far longer on the streets (and in the air) than I have.

:)

I don't like Sports titles at all. As you say, po-tay-to, po-tar-to.

PS. A playable demo of "PES 2008" should be on the PlayStation Store this Thursday.

PPS. I have started a new thread regarding dogvilledan's mention of the title in Currys.

It is £19.97 online (to reserve for collection in-store)... 2p or not 2p that is the question.

can't remember off the top of my head, i got Burnout for the 360 but it was definitely in the PS3 selection too. Alone In The Dark was in there for the 360 which appears to be best price around at the mo.

Weird how Currys has all of a sudden gone from hugely overpriced to a good place to buy cheap games.

Stockists with over-priced (higher than recommended retail price) items must be feeling the results of the "credit crunch" more than most, not least with the advent of sites such as HotUKDeals & more and more people turning to the Interweb for cheaper vendors.

Digital downloads for the major three home video consoles won't be helping either.

Personally I prefer the [URL="http:/1upgamers.com/virtually-physical/"]physical products[/URL], but not everybody has the storage space these days as the population increases & property sizes decrease.

If I have the chance this week I'll visit D-D-D-Currys.digital & see what's on offer in-store.

Thanks again.

I now have "LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures" [PS3] & "Ninja Gaiden II" [Xbox 360] bought in the "2 for £30" offer!

You're right... they did have many titles... some old, some not so old, some nearly new.

Not everything is reduced. Oddly some very old titles weren't.

"Devil May Cry 4" [PS3] was in the "2 for £30" deal, as was "Burnout Paradise" (for both [PS3] & [Xbox 360], as mentioned). "Enemy Territory: Quake Wars" [PS3], & "Unreal Tournament III" (both consoles again) as well.

I also recall "Viking: Battle For Asgard" [PS3] was £6.99, & "Tony Hawk's Proving Ground" [Xbox 360] was £9.97.

Thanks again.

BFN,

fp.
