the motorbikes - i thought u could d/l that for free once u have the normal game? and the game is around £10 now..

Could you clarify why its a good deal?
#2
New features in modes.. yeah the motor bike can be downloaded free... but not sure about other features

http://www.coolest-gadgets.com/20081102/ea-announces-burnout-paradise-the-ultimate-box/

It's made up of the old downloads from last year and the new ones that are yet to come.

Sorry I'm going to vote cold. Normal Burnout paradise is about £10-15 and the motorbikes, extra levels and night racing etc are free legit downloads from their website. This is just a way of repackaging the game and free stuff and making a few extra quid.

The game is not £10. Sure it was £10 at that clearance store (which has now sold out) but the cheapest you can find this is about £17.99. The Ultimate Box has Cagney, Bogart and the Bikes Pack which are all free DLC, sure, but it also has the Party Pack and Big Surf Island, both of which are not free DLC, which'll probably be something like £5/£6 each.

Voted hot.

I am after this, can someone point me to the websites that this is about £10-£15 for the 360?

On the subject of Burnout Paradise's paid-for DLC, this is what i'm waiting for:

I don't think Big Surf is included in this release - the only paid for DLC is the Party Pack as far as I know......

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burnout_Paradise#Party_Pack

In addition, Criterion announced "Burnout Paradise - The Ultimate Box" that will launch around the same time. It will contain the game and the Cagney, Bike, Big Surf Island and Party packs all in the same package as well as "a mountain of new refinements.

On the subject of Big Surf Island, have you seen some of the jumps!?!

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZoZ7-Bncr4

Holy mother of all flatspins......

Edit: the video is a bit old, it's back when they had Big Surf Island as free DLC, but that's since been changed. In episode 12 of the CrashTV podcast, they confirm that Big Surf Island is paid for DLC.

No, the closest you'll get is "hot seat" multiplayer (ie. you take turns), via the Party Pack, which is part of the Ultimate Box.

On a side note, the Party Pack has the "restart/retry" option.

Good cos it's annoying having to drive ~10 miles to start a race again.
Not that I ever lose

jus curious, would you need to create a new game save for the ultimate box. or can you use your original save file (if you have the old version)

ive heard the DLC are about 3GB... so this ultimate pack is good for those people who have not hooked their machines to the net.

Tell me about it. People keep telling me how jaw-dropping the crashes look in Burnout Paradise. I wouldn't know. I've never crashed.

Talking purely from X360 experience....

From memory, the bikes pack was about 400MB. The Burnout Paradise demo -- which I believe probably contains about the same amount of geometry (ie. land) as Big Surf Island -- was about 800MB. I'm thinking, all-in-all, the DLC that The Ultimate Box will have should probably amount to about 1.5GB.... still annoying for some people to download.

I'm all for The Ultimate Box, 'swhy I voted this hot.

I am looking for a new game for a present. I was hoping one of the guys who said this can be had for £10-£15 can provide the details

If playing offline & you mess up & know you're not going to catch up to the forerunner(s of the pack) then just slow down & stop your vehicle for 3 or 4 seconds & the current challenge cancels & drops you back to "cruise mode".

Or flip into "Showtime mode".

BFN,

fp.

EDIT:
I tell you what is more annoying, though...

Receiving the patch for the PS3 Trophy Update midway through playing to the end of the (original) game & finding that the in-game accomplishments were not retrospectively applied to the Trophies so that you now cannot get all the Trophies as the challenges already done are not acknowledged. You have to remove (or move) your save game data elsewhere & start over from the beginning to snag a Platinum (100%) Trophy status.

On fleabay there are (or were) a couple of copies of burnout for PS3 at £14.99 on buyitnow. They are secondhand but mint...note that they have nothing to do with me and I'm just trying to help.

I'm tempted to buy a copy myself but cannot decide especially as I have loads to play at the moment. May wait for a £9.99 copy to appear...as if by magic.

Question: do you get trophies for Bikes Pack accomplishments? I ask because in the X360 version, X360 Achievements are available from the get-go (ie. they're not DLC like the Trophies Pack) in the core game, however the achievements in the DLC Bikes Pack don't count as official X360 Achievements that go towards your gamerscore. It's like the Bikes Pack achievements are in-game-only achievements that don't register anywhere other than in the game.

Just wondering if it's the same with trophies in the PS3's Bikes Pack.

imo, i hope this sells really badly. success just gives a green light to release 80% of a game and then release the other 20% as an 'ultimate' edition.

its bad enough on films, we dont need this appearing on games.

They're called Expansion Packs.

1974 called -- they want their outrage back when you're done with it.

2007 also called, then they realised you weren't interested in their Orange Box.

Bikes have separate trophies on the PS3. For example there is a gold trophy for obtaining 100% on the bike licence. Bike trophies do not interact with the car based trophies i.e. they do not affect obtaining the Platinum trophy.

what are you on about u idiot?

and expansion packs are normally a lot cheaper than the full game :whistling:

obviously my point went over your head

WHOA, WHOA.... no need to start name-calling!

This *is* the full game, plus the expansion packs! You can buy the expansion packs separately for about £5/£6 each, or you can buy the whole shebang in The Ultimate Box, kinda like The Orange Box, or any other anthology.

Chill csiman.....

soz - having a bad day

I know this is the full game but it doesnt really offer much more than the cheap £10 original after you have downloaded the free updates.

anyway, soz again (will edit)

That's cool.... but like I was saying in a previous post, that £10 price is no longer available. The cheapest seems to be about £15-18.

If the £10 option were still available, then the cheapest option, like you said, would be to buy the £10 core game, download all the free DLC, then pay about £12 total for the Party Pack and the Big Surf Island, bringing it to a total of £22, £3 cheaper than this.

But like zerowing and I established, we estimate all that DLC is somewhere between 1.5 - 3GB of data to make the core game match the Ultimate Box -- which might be too much of a waste of time and bandwidth for the lucky few who were able to score that £10 copy. Not to mention, some of us don't want to fill our precious console HDD space with the DLC sitting there indefinitely. :)
#33
This will not include the Big Surf DLC. From the Criterion Games website..........only the original game, free updates and Party Pack are included........

The Ultimate Box will be available in Feb 2009 and will contain the original Burnout Paradise, including Codenamed Cagney and Burnout Bikes, and also Burnout Paradise Party plus a mountain of new refinements.

No mention of Big Surf - it was probably going to be included in this pack, until they decided they were going to charge a seperate fee for it.

For those who are saying this is £10-£15 on the 360 for a brand new game, can they point to where? I do not want 2nd hand.

will this include the legendary cars update? i.e. with the back to the future cars etc?
